The Role Responsible for the supervisionand monitoring of volunteer safety through telemetrymonitoringwithin scope of practice To collect biological samples, performs phlebotomy, vital signs andECG’sin accordance withthe specific activity schedule To track overall study event schedule and participant compliance Tocomply and adhere to GCP guidelines and regulations as required of this role To ensure study data is collected to a high qualityin accordance withGood Clinical Practice (GCP) standards Toensuresubject safety at all times Main Tasks and Responsibilities Responsible for the monitoringof volunteer safety as applicable through scope of practice Able to respond to medical emergency and follow medical directives within scope of practice Responsible for communicating any noted adverse within scope of practice Adherence to applicable SOPs and Protocol Responsible forcollection of biological samples; e.g. blood, urine, stool, sputum Responsible for drawing blood specimens (by venipuncture) according to the times specified in the study schedules Responsible for recording andmaintainingrecords of blood draws and other biologicalspecimen collections (per SOPs) via paper or electronic forms Assistwith the proper labelling and preparation of blood collection tubes when indicated Assures that all necessary blood collection tubes,equipmentand supplies are on thefloor prior to blood draw time Prepares the unit for any scheduled activities and upon completion removes all equipment and/or supplies from the floor Measures andrecordsvital signsaccurately; recognizesandreports any abnormal vital signs accordingly OperatesECG machine, performs ECGs, and/or works withholtermonitors if trained and within scope of practice Promptly reports any study participant’s adverse event and/or lack of compliance to the Clinical Research Nurse Must be familiar with proper phlebotomy and laboratory procedures in compliance with OSHA regulations, Good Clinical Practices and Quotient Sciences Operating Procedures Responsible for proper biomedical waste disposal procedures and schedules Responsible for reading and understanding all protocols and schedules Responsible forassistingin the recording and distributing of meals to study participants according to strict meal schedules Assures that the unit iskept clean and orderly at all timesand removes any items notpermittedfrom the floor Able to interact andmaintaina professional demeanour with study participants during their inpatient stay Responsible forobservingconfidentiality practicesregardingany protocols, subjectinformationand/or any relevant industry informationat all times Assistswith the preparation of data collection binders and study documents as assignedby the Clinical Research Nurse Assistswith any other duties as assigned Job Demands The job may involve the following: Very highconcentration of work Strict and tight deadlines Having to juggle a range of tasks/issues simultaneously Working in a hazardous environment with high requirement to follow safety procedures Working outside normal working hours Needing to respond to client demands The Candidate Current/Valid EMT-Basic or EMT-Paramedic.
