Human Resource Generalist

The Axel Group is seeking an HR Generalist for our client's team. This company operates in the construction industry and is looking for a dedicated HR professional to support all human resources functions within a dynamic operational environment. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to HR initiatives across office and field operations, ensuring compliance and fostering a positive workplace culture. Responsibilities: Manage the full recruitment process, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding employees across office and field locations. Coordinate new hire paperwork, background screenings, employment documentation, and system setup. Process employee separations, including offboarding activities, final payroll coordination, and benefits administration. Administer payroll for salaried, hourly, and union employees, ensuring accurate wage classifications and compliance with labor laws. Maintain employee records, HR databases, and confidential personnel files. Develop, update, and implement HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook materials. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations, including wage laws, leave policies, and employment verification. Oversee employee benefits administration, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave programs. Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations, guiding workplace investigations and conflict resolution. Support performance management initiatives, including reviews and coaching managers. Coordinate safety-related documentation and workers' compensation claims in collaboration with operational leadership. Identify and implement process improvements for HR operations and reporting. Provide administrative support to leadership and cross-functional teams as needed. Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a standalone or small-team environment. Experience supporting construction, engineering, industrial, manufacturing, or similar industries is preferred. Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices. Bachelor\'s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) is a plus. Experience with HRIS and payroll systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle confidential information professionally. Valid driver\'s license and reliable transportation. Compensation: Salary up to $85,000.00 annually. This position offers a full-time work arrangement.
