Certified Lead Phlebotomist

Job Overview Work Shift: Night — 12 Hour (United States of America). This position is a Certified Phlebotomist Lead responsible for technical and clerical laboratory procedures, ensuring workflow continuity between patients and the laboratory. The role processes all patient samples for clinical tests and prepares specimens for referral to reference laboratories and other laboratory departments. The Lead also inputs on employee evaluations and serves as a subject matter expert, providing training and preceptorship for the position it leads over. These procedures exclude any tasks performed only by licensed personnel under state licensure regulations. Responsibilities Perform technical and clerical procedures within the clinical laboratory. Ensure continuity of workflow between patient and laboratory. Process all patient samples for clinical tests and verify sample adequacy and integrity. Prepare specimens for referral to reference laboratories and various laboratory departments. Input on employee evaluations and serve as a subject matter expert for training and preceptorship. Oversee duties related to the position and provide guidance to junior staff. Qualifications High school graduate or GED equivalent. Successful completion of a formal phlebotomy training program. Phlebotomy Tech or Medical Assistant (including Phlebotomy) course completion certificate. At least two (2) years of experience in a hospital or other patient care setting with a formal phlebotomy program. Current AHA and BLS certification. Current certification from ASCP, AMT, ASPT or NHA. Experience in clinical laboratory settings and sample processing. Additional Information Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40. FTE: 1.
