The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in title examination, an eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities include but not limited to:Search the public records and examine title to determine legal condition of the propertyWorking knowledge of legal documents affecting title to real property and methods by which they are recorded and/or become liensDetermine the tax status of the real propertyExamine copies of records, such as Deeds, mortgages, liens, judgments, vital statistics, and plat and map books to determine ownership, encumbrances and to verify legal description of the propertyExamine condominium and homeowners' associations documentationDetermine the impact of any recorded instrument in the chain of title such as deeds, liens, judgments, etc.Determine the proper parties to be named in a foreclosure actionOutline any title curative issues required and/or identify any senior interestSummarize the legal condition of the property and advise the clientData entry of the results of the examination into the company's computerMeet daily required quotaPosition Requirements:A minimum of three years' experience required in title abstracting, searching, and examination.Must have knowledge and experience in the use of the NC Odyssey Portal.Typing is a requirement.Microsoft Office and Internet Skills required.Preferred experience as a Foreclosure or Real Estate Closing Title Abstractor/Examiner.This position is eligible to be performed remotely within the Brock & Scott footprint, serving AL, CT, FL, GA, IN, KY, ME, MA, MD, MI, NH, NC, NJ, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VT, VA, and WV, or 100% on-site in Winston-Salem or Wilmington, NC.Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-ExemptFull-Time/Part-Time: Full-TimeLocation(s): Multiple locations across the United States
