Concept Solutions is seeking an AWS Cloud Systems Administrator to join a dedicated team of Information Technology professionals supporting the Federal Aviation Administration’s Command, Control, and Communications (C3) office.

The C3 office carries a critical strategic mandate: ensuring FAA managers maintain daily situational awareness and continuity of communications during national emergencies, natural disasters, and critical equipment disruptions. When disruptions occur, the C3 office supports rapid disaster recovery and restoration of essential communication services.

This mission-critical position is based on-site in Washington, DC, with some telework eligibility available after the selected candidate is fully trained and integrated into the team.

The AWS Cloud Systems Administrator will help administer, secure, automate, and monitor the AWS and Linux infrastructure supporting the FAA’s emergency communications environment. The successful candidate will also participate in the modernization and migration of legacy on-premises systems into AWS.

This is a hands-on systems administration position for someone who understands traditional enterprise infrastructure and has expanded their experience into AWS. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with senior engineers, architects, application developers, cybersecurity personnel, and other infrastructure teams.

Primary Responsibilities

• AWS Systems Administration: Administer, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot AWS services such as Amazon EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, Route 53, IAM, CloudWatch, and related services.

• Cloud Migration Support : Participate in the planning and execution of migrations from legacy on-premises environments to AWS. Assist with system discovery, configuration, testing, data transfer, deployment, validation, documentation, and post-migration support.

• Hybrid Infrastructure Support : Support connectivity between on-premises and AWS environments, including VPNs, routing, DNS, firewalls, security groups, and network troubleshooting. Work with senior engineers and network specialists on more complex Direct Connect and Transit Gateway configurations.

• Linux Systems Administration : Install, configure, patch, secure, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux/RHEL servers supporting cloud and hybrid environments.

• Identity and Security Administration : Administer AWS IAM users, roles, policies, security groups, encryption controls, and multifactor authentication in accordance with least-privilege and federal security requirements. Support integration with enterprise identity platforms such as Active Directory and IAM Identity Center.

• Infrastructure as Code and Automation : Use Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar tools to provision and maintain cloud infrastructure. Automate routine administrative and operational tasks using Bash, Python, AWS CLI, AWS Systems Manager, or related tools.

• CI/CD Support : Support and maintain automated deployment pipelines using tools such as AWS CodePipeline, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps. Assist application and development teams with deployments, troubleshooting, and security or quality checks.

• Container Support : Support containerized applications using Docker, Amazon ECS, AWS Fargate, or Amazon EKS. Monitor workloads and assist with deployment, configuration, scaling, and troubleshooting.

• Monitoring, Backup, and Recovery : Monitor infrastructure health, performance, availability, logs, and security events using services such as Amazon CloudWatch and CloudTrail. Support backups, snapshots, restoration testing, disaster-recovery procedures, and Continuity of Operations requirements.

• Documentation and Operational Support : Maintain system documentation, configuration records, procedures, diagrams, and troubleshooting guides. Respond to incidents, resolve technical problems, and coordinate with other technical teams as necessary.

• Resource and Cost Awareness: Monitor AWS resource utilization, follow established tagging standards, and identify unused or oversized resources for review by technical leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, information technology, or another relevant technical field.

• Minimum five years of relevant experience in systems administration, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or a related technical discipline, including hands-on experience supporting AWS environments.

• Experience administering core AWS services such as EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, Route 53, IAM, and CloudWatch.

• Linux/RHEL systems administration experience, including system configuration, patching, troubleshooting, security hardening, and operational support.

• Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.

• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or Azure DevOps.

• Experience using Bash, Python, AWS CLI, or similar scripting and automation tools.

• Experience participating in a cloud migration, data-center modernization, or hybrid-cloud implementation.

• Understanding of cloud networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, VPNs, DNS, load balancers, security groups, and firewall rules.

• Ability to document technical work clearly and collaborate with infrastructure, application, cybersecurity, and program teams.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting a federal agency or government contractor.

• Experience with AWS GovCloud or AWS Outposts.

• Exposure to AWS migration services such as AWS Application Migration Service, AWS Database Migration Service, or AWS DataSync.

• Experience with AWS Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, Route 53 Resolver, or hybrid identity integration.

• Experience with Docker, Amazon ECS, AWS Fargate, Kubernetes, or Amazon EKS.

• Experience with VMware, Active Directory, GPOs, SAN/NAS storage, SQL Server, middleware, or other legacy enterprise infrastructure.

• Familiarity with SAST/DAST security scanning and federal security requirements.

• Familiarity with AWS resource tagging, budgeting, rightsizing, Savings Plans, or Reserved Instances.

• AWS certification such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, or AWS Certified Developer – Associate.

Location and Schedule

• Location: Washington, DC

• Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with core working hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. local time

• Telework: Some telework eligibility may be available after the selected candidate is fully trained and integrated

• Security Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust

• Travel: Approximately 10–15%

• Salary Range: $110,000–$119,000
