We’re building more than infrastructure; we are building your future.General SummaryThis role is based in Alaska and requires candidates to be willing and able to work and temporarily live in Alaska for the duration of the construction season (typically March through November).Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structural concrete formwork systems for bridge and heavy civil construction projects, including decks, piers, abutments, and other structural components. Performs skilled carpentry work using hand and power tools while ensuring alignment with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.Essential Job AccountabilitiesStudies blueprints, structural drawings, and project specifications related to bridge and concrete formwork systemsConstructs, erects, and strips formwork for bridges, including decks, columns, caps, abutments, and footingsMeasures, cuts, and assembles wood, metal, or prefabricated forming materials to specified dimensionsBuilds and installs falsework, shoring, and bracing systems to support concrete placementAligns and secures formwork to ensure structural integrity and correct elevation, grade, and alignmentWorks with layout tools to establish reference points and verify dimensions prior to concrete poursInstalls form ties, embeds, chamfers, and blockouts in accordance with project plansCollaborates with ironworkers and labor crews during reinforcing steel placement and concrete operationsDismantles and removes formwork systems after concrete has cured, ensuring safe and efficient reuse of materialsInspects forms, shoring, and supports before and during concrete placement to ensure stability and complianceOperates hand and power tools such as saws, drills, vibrators (as needed), and fastening equipmentErects scaffolding, ladders, and work platforms to support elevated bridge construction activitiesMaintains clean and organized work areas and ensures proper material handling and storageFollows all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety requirementsEducationHigh School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experienceWork Experience3+ years' experience in heavy civil construction, specifically concrete formwork and bridge structuresExperience with structural form systems, falsework, and shoringKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of bridge construction methods, including decks, piers, caps, and abutmentsAbility to read and interpret structural drawings, plans, and specificationsUnderstanding of formwork systems, concrete placement processes, and sequencingFamiliarity with materials such as dimensional lumber, plywood, steel forms, and hardwareStrong attention to detail and accuracy in layout and measurementsAbility to plan work and select appropriate tools and materialsAbility to work effectively in a team environment on complex structural projectsPhysically, workers must be able to:Ability to climb, balance, and work at heights on scaffolds and bridge structuresAbility to lift and carry materials up to 100 poundsAbility to stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform physically demanding tasksAbility to work outdoors in varying weather and job site conditionsAbout Granite Construction IncorporatedGranite Construction Incorporated is a member of the S&P 400 Index and is the parent company of Granite Construction Company, one of the nation's largest heavy civil contractors and construction materials producers.
