About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Electronic Security Systems Engineer with a strong background in commercial access control, video surveillance, and integrated security systems.

This is a hands-on, field-based, technical position focused on the configuration, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and ongoing support of commercial electronic security systems.

We are specifically looking for candidates with direct, practical experience working with electronic security systems—not general IT, cybersecurity, or traditional engineering backgrounds without relevant security integration experience.

We're looking for someone who understands commercial electronic security systems from hands-on experience —not simply from classroom education or general IT experience.

If you've configured access control panels, programmed security management software, commissioned IP camera systems, or troubleshot complex security integrations, we'd like to hear from you.

The ideal candidate understands how electronic security systems operate in real-world environments, can diagnose complex technical issues, and is comfortable working with both hardware and software.

You'll work closely with our Project Managers, Installation Technicians, and Service Team to ensure systems are properly configured, integrated, tested, and delivered to our clients.

What You'll Do

• Configure, program, commission, and troubleshoot commercial electronic security systems.
• Work directly with access control platforms such as LenelS2, AMAG, Brivo, Avigilon Alta/Openpath, and similar systems.
• Configure and troubleshoot IP video surveillance systems, including cameras, recording servers, VMS platforms, and network connectivity.
• Support systems such as Milestone, Avigilon, Axis, Hanwha, and other commercial security technologies.
• Diagnose hardware, software, database, server, and network-related issues affecting security systems.
• Configure access control panels, readers, credentials, schedules, permissions, and system integrations.
• Support system installations, upgrades, migrations, and commissioning.
• Work with customer IT departments to coordinate network requirements, connectivity, servers, and system access.
• Review project drawings, system architecture, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
• Perform onsite and remote troubleshooting, testing, and technical support.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including system configurations, programming changes, troubleshooting notes, and daily work reports.
• Communicate technical findings, project status, and outstanding issues clearly to internal teams and customers.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Hands-on experience programming, configuring, commissioning, or troubleshooting commercial electronic security systems.
• Practical experience with commercial access control systems and/or enterprise video surveillance platforms.
• Understanding of access control hardware, including controllers, readers, door hardware interfaces, and related components.
• Working knowledge of IP networking, including TCP/IP, IP addressing, VLANs, and network troubleshooting.
• Experience working with Windows operating systems, servers, and client/server applications.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues involving both physical security hardware and software.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in the field and collaborate with technicians, Project Managers, and customer IT teams.

Preferred Experience

Direct experience with one or more of the following platforms is highly desirable:

• LenelS2 OnGuard or NetBox
• AMAG Symmetry
• Brivo
• Avigilon Alta / Openpath
• Milestone XProtect
• Avigilon video systems
• Axis or Hanwha IP cameras
• OpenEye

Manufacturer certifications are a plus.

Education

A college degree is not required. We value demonstrated technical ability, relevant industry experience, manufacturer training, and practical troubleshooting skills.

Candidates with backgrounds in electronic security integration, security systems installation, technical field service, or security systems programming are encouraged to apply.

What We're Looking For

• Experience with enterprise-level electronic security systems.
• Strong experience with access control and IP video surveillance .
• Experience programming, configuring, commissioning, and troubleshooting security systems.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, IP addressing, VLANs, PoE, network switches, and basic network troubleshooting .
• Experience with Windows operating systems, client/server environments, virtual machines, and database applications.
• SQL knowledge or experience is a plus.
• Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, wiring diagrams, and network documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the project team.
• Strong computer, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Hands-on experience or certifications with one or more of the following is preferred: AMAG, Lenel/LenelS2, Avigilon, Axis, Milestone, OpenPath/Avigilon Alta, Brivo, Bosch , or similar enterprise security platforms.
• Valid driver's license required, as travel to customer locations is an essential function of this position.
