Position Summary

The Baig Firm is seeking an experienced, highly organized, and dependable Civil Litigation Paralegal to support our attorneys throughout all stages of litigation. The ideal candidate will take ownership of assignments, manage deadlines carefully, communicate professionally, and help keep cases moving forward without requiring constant supervision.

This is a hands-on position for someone who is comfortable managing a busy civil litigation caseload and working directly with attorneys, clients, opposing counsel, courts, witnesses, and vendors. The successful candidate will be polished, proactive, technologically capable, and committed to producing accurate, high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities

Case and Deadline Management

• Assist attorneys with managing civil litigation matters from initial intake through trial or settlement.
• Maintain case calendars and accurately track court deadlines, discovery deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial dates.
• Review court orders, notices, and correspondence and promptly calendar all applicable deadlines.
• Maintain organized electronic case files in accordance with the firm’s paperless office protocols.
• Regularly review assigned cases and follow up on outstanding tasks, documents, and deadlines.

Pleadings, Discovery, and Legal Documents

• Draft and format routine pleadings, discovery requests, discovery responses, subpoenas, notices, affidavits, and correspondence.
• Assist with preparing and serving interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
• Gather, organize, review, label, and produce documents in discovery.
• Coordinate with clients to collect documents and information needed for discovery responses.
• Prepare discovery indexes, chronologies, summaries, exhibit lists, and document databases.
• Proofread filings and other legal documents for accuracy, formatting, grammar, citations, and compliance with court rules.

Court Filings and Litigation Support

• Electronically file pleadings and other documents in Georgia state and federal courts.
• Arrange for service of process and monitor completion of service.
• Obtain court records, business records, medical records, and other evidence as needed.
• Communicate professionally with court personnel, opposing counsel, process servers, court reporters, mediators, and expert witnesses.
• Assist attorneys with deposition, mediation, hearing, and trial preparation.
• Prepare hearing and trial notebooks, exhibits, witness files, subpoenas, and demonstrative materials.
• Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, or trials when needed.

Client Communication

• Maintain regular and professional communication with clients regarding documents, deadlines, scheduling, and case status.
• Respond promptly and courteously to client questions within the scope of the paralegal role.
• Help ensure that clients understand what information or action is needed from them.
• Document important client communications and case developments in the firm’s practice-management system.

Team and Firm Support

• Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, law clerks, and other team members.
• Participate in litigation team meetings and provide clear updates regarding assigned cases.
• Assist with improving litigation procedures, templates, checklists, and internal systems.
• Enter time accurately and contemporaneously and comply with firm billing requirements.
• Maintain strict confidentiality concerning client and firm information.
• Consistently uphold the firm’s standards for professionalism, ethics, client care, and teamwork.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

• At least three years of substantive civil litigation paralegal experience.
• Experience supporting attorneys in Georgia state-court litigation is required.
• Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred; equivalent law-firm experience will be considered.
• Experience with business litigation, commercial disputes, employment matters, or other complex civil litigation is strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of the civil litigation process, including pleadings, discovery, motions, depositions, mediation, and trial preparation.
• Experience with Georgia court procedures and electronic filing systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with MyCase or similar legal practice-management software preferred.
• Strong document-management, proofreading, formatting, and organizational skills.
• Ability to learn and properly use new technology, including appropriate legal automation and artificial-intelligence tools.

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus

• Experience with commercial or business litigation.
• Experience preparing for depositions, evidentiary hearings, jury trials, or bench trials.
• Federal court litigation experience.
• Experience with e-discovery platforms and large document productions.
• Familiarity with Georgia appellate practice.
• Notary commission.
• Experience working in a small or mid-size law firm.
• Experience working with diverse clients and multicultural teams.
• Bilingual ability.

Compensation

The starting salary for this position is $70,000 , with final compensation based on qualifications and relevant litigation experience.
