• Shift / Schedule: Day (4x10 Hours), 12:00-22:30

Job Summary

This is a PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) travel nursing opportunity at a short-term acute care teaching facility in Rochester, NY. The unit accepts first-time travelers. RNs must have a mandatory competency with phlebotomy as well as placing IVs, as this is a required skill for any RN at this facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Phase I PACU post-anesthesia recovery care
• Provide Phase II Recovery care
• Support Endo/Laparoscopic, General, Ortho, Ortho/Spine, and Ortho/Total Joints cases
• Fulfill 2 weekend call shifts and 2 weeknight call shifts per month (4 call shifts total per month)
• Perform mandatory phlebotomy competency as required for all RNs at this facility
• Place IVs as a required skill for all RNs at this facility

Required Skills

• Phase I PACU experience
• Phase II Recovery experience
• Endo/Laparoscopic case experience
• General surgery case experience
• Ortho, Ortho/Spine, and Ortho/Total Joints case experience
• Phlebotomy competency (mandatory)
• IV placement proficiency (mandatory)
• Proficiency with Epic (EHR charting system)

Education Requirements

• Active RN License - NY State required (NY is not a Compact state)
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• PALS certification required

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required

• Short-term acute care teaching facility
• Total staffed beds: 471
• Scrubs: Provided - Teal
• Charting: Epic
• On-call and weekend availability required (2 weekend call shifts and 2 weeknight call shifts per month)
• Local candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
