Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:

Registered Nurse for PACU, supporting post-procedure recovery with a focus on safe monitoring and timely escalation. Manages Phase I and Phase II recovery needs while coordinating with the care team across a variety of surgical specialties.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and assess patients during Phase I PACU and Phase II recovery, ensuring stability and appropriate response to treatment.
• Administer medications and manage post-operative care based on provider orders and patient condition.
• Maintain airway and breathing support readiness, responding quickly to changes in clinical status.
• Perform and document IV therapy, including initiation and maintenance, with accurate charting in Epic.
• Support procedural recovery workflows for endo/laparoscopic, general, and orthopedic cases, including ortho/spine and total joints.
• Coordinate patient handoffs and communicate trends, concerns, and outcomes to the interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active NY Registered Nurse license in hand to submit.
• Possess 1+ year of recent PACU/acute care experience with proven competence in Phase I and Phase II recovery.
• Demonstrate mandatory competency with phlebotomy and routine IV placement/management.
• Maintain current certifications in BLS and ACLS; PALS required.
• Show proficiency charting in Epic as a hard requirement.
• Provide experience supporting recovery for orthopedic and minimally invasive procedures.
