Cardiac Cath Lab Tech

The Cardiovascular Technologist will assist physicians with invasive cardiac and peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This includes temporary and permanent pacemaker placement. The Cardiovascular Technologist will assist with circulatory support devices as indicated, such as IABP and Impella. Prepares and organizes specific equipment and sterile trays for each procedure. Assists the procedure room team with patient positioning and preparation. Calibrates and tests transducers for accurate pressure readings. Assists physicians throughout diagnostic and/or interventional procedures. Loads and operates power injectors and associated sterile support equipment. Maneuvers the table controls for physicians as requested. Calibrates hemodynamic monitoring equipment and obtains, calculates, and analyzes hemodynamic data. Calculates and records cardiac output and oximetry readings. Utilizes and maintains standards for the operation of digital cine technologies including protocols for image storage and retrieval. Assists with vascular access, sheath removal, and hemostatic closure devices while maintaining hemostasis at the access site. Manages inventory control and prepares required equipment for each procedure. Adheres to practice requirements related to Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems. Operates equipment safely, prepares and cares for equipment, and returns supplies as necessary. Participates in catheterization lab on-call responsibilities as required. Applies radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis at the access site. Recognizes and interprets cardiac arrhythmias. Assists with maintenance, calibration, and routine evaluation of all diagnostic and technical equipment. Lifts a minimum of 40 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 100 lbs., and stands a minimum of 4 hours a day. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies care delivery accordingly. Communicates with patients, parents, and/or caregivers at their level of understanding. Adheres to radiation safety standards. Promotes a professional environment through role modeling and behaviors consistent with core values.
