We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support a growing organization in Endicott, New York through a Long-term Contract engagement. This position will play a key role in bringing structure to core accounting activities, improving financial visibility, and helping establish reliable processes during an important growth phase. The ideal candidate is comfortable working hands-on across day-to-day accounting operations while partnering with leadership and operations to build a more scalable finance function.

Responsibilities:
• Lead month-end close activities, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and maintaining an accurate general ledger.
• Strengthen accounts payable workflows by organizing vendor records, improving payment tracking, and helping define a more efficient approval process.
• Manage accounts receivable activities such as invoicing, billing follow-up, cash application, and collection support to improve timeliness and accuracy.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure complete and reliable financial records.
• Develop standard operating procedures and practical accounting processes that create consistency across daily and monthly tasks.
• Partner with operational stakeholders to establish clear controls and visibility around payment timing, obligations, and financial coordination.
• Assess current use of QuickBooks, recommend ways to expand its effectiveness, and support evaluation of future accounting system needs if appropriate.
• Create foundational financial reporting to help leadership monitor performance, track activity, and support better decision-making.
• Provide knowledge transfer and cross-training support to future permanent accounting hires as the team structure is built out.• 3+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on responsibility for general ledger activity and month-end close.
• Strong working knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliation processes.
• Experience supporting both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement within existing systems.
• Demonstrated ability to build or refine accounting procedures, documentation, and internal workflows.
• Comfortable working in a hybrid arrangement with 2-3 days on site in Endicott, New York.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across accounting, operations, and leadership teams.
