The Senior Bookkeeper / Financial Controller will oversee the company's day-to-day accounting functions while helping management develop and refine job costing systems, labor tracking, financial reporting, and operational performance metrics. This individual will work closely with ownership and department managers to ensure financial accuracy and support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all bookkeeping and accounting functions
• Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Review and verify weekly payroll processing
• Assist with payroll reporting and compliance
• Develop and maintain job costing procedures for landscape maintenance, installation, and enhancement projects
• Analyze labor, equipment, and material costs by job
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
• Monitor cash flow and budgeting processes
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts
• Work directly with external CPA and tax professionals
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems and internal controls
• Provide financial insight to ownership regarding profitability and operational performance
• Support customer service and office operations as needed

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or controller experience
• Strong understanding of job costing and project-based accounting
• Experience with payroll processing and payroll compliance
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
• Experience creating financial reports and analyzing business performance
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced blue-collar environment
• Construction, landscaping, service industry, or field operations experience strongly preferred
