Clinical Laboratory Technologist Trainee - Histology
Labcorp
Labcorp seeks a Clinical Laboratory Technologist Trainee for its Shelton, Connecticut histology department. The role involves processing tissue specimens, operating laboratory equipment, and performing quality control under pathologist supervision. Full training is provided for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
- Execute technical grossing and specimen preparation procedures per standard operating procedures
- Operate and maintain automated tissue processors, embedding units, stainers, and cover slipping equipment
- Prepare reccuts for microtomy and compile cases for pathology review
- Perform quality control on completed cases and manage specimen storage and retrieval
- Handle chemical reagents and maintain laboratory safety protocols
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Science, Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- Ability to pass standardized color vision screening
- Proficiency with computers and laboratory information systems preferred
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- 3+ months clinical laboratory experience preferred
- ASCP or AMT certification preferred
