Human Resources Specialist

Human Resources Specialist – Central Administration Office This full‑time position works Monday to Thursday 7:30 am–4:30 pm and Friday 7:30 am–4:00 pm, totaling 240 days per year. The role includes 19 paid holidays, 12 paid sick days, 2 paid personal days, and 12 paid vacation days annually. Job Goals This position performs a variety of routine and technical duties in multiple areas including recruiting, employee benefits, new hire onboarding, Workers Compensation, and FMLA. It also oversees the district’s recruiting and hiring software, trains users, and serves as a point of contact for HR inquiries. Performance Responsibilities Serves as the system administrator of the District’s hiring and record‑keeping software; maintains the software, posts job announcements, updates forms and templates, compiles reports, and recommends improvements. Assists hiring managers with recruitment strategies and facilitates the proper use of hiring policies, procedures, and applicant‑tracking software. Processes all new hires, transfers, and re‑assignments, including pre‑employment screenings and new hire paperwork; reviews transcripts and certifications for salary placement. Enters data into electronic systems, reporting benefit enrollments and employment status changes. Assists new hires in understanding and enrolling in district benefits, coordinates annual open enrollment periods, and supports monthly and annual compliance with the Affordable Care Act. Responds to general inquiries regarding employee benefits and personnel procedures, providing quick and courteous service. Ensures proper, valid certification for all staff during new hire processing. Reviews injury reports for completeness, adherence to guidelines, and identifies opportunities for improvement. Receives, reviews, and submits workers’ compensation incident reports; assists staff with inquiries and reports suspicious incidents to the Human Resources Director. Tracks FMLA requests, maintains electronic medical files, monitors absences, and ensures timely notification of FMLA rights. Reviews, tracks, and processes lane change requests for certified staff. Assigns contracts, work agreements, and extra‑duty contracts upon School Board approval. Compiles and maintains data for the Wyoming Department of Education, including 602 reporting. Assists in processing substitute teachers, student teachers, volunteers, and contractors, including scheduling interviews and paperwork. Acts as a liaison to district staff, students, and the community. Maintains high levels of confidentiality regarding applicants, employees, and students. Participates in the development, coordination, and administration of special projects or programs as assigned, and performs other similar duties. Qualifications Associate’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field and experience performing HR functions are preferred. A PHR or SHRM‑CP certification is desirable but not required. Reporting Reports to the Human Resources Director.
