The Senior Finance Specialist is responsible for supporting the financial operations of Fairmont Operations through accounting, financial reporting, cost analysis, budgeting support, inventory accounting, and financial controls. This role serves as a key member of the finance team, providing analytical and accounting support to ensure accurate financial reporting, effective cost management, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions

Financial Reporting & Accounting

·         Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.

·         Assist in the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and key performance metrics.

·         Analyze financial results and investigate variances to support accurate reporting.

·         Ensure financial transactions are properly recorded and supported in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.

·         Maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial records and general ledger accounts.

Cost Accounting & Operational Analysis

·         Support cost accounting activities, including labor, material, overhead, and inventory cost analysis.

·         Monitor manufacturing performance and provide analysis of key operational and financial metrics.

·         Assist with product costing, cost studies, and profitability analysis.

·         Identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities through financial analysis.

·         Provide financial support for continuous improvement initiatives and operational projects.

Budgeting & Forecasting

·         Assist with the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

·         Track actual performance against budget and forecast targets.

·         Prepare analyses and reports to support forecasting and business planning activities.

·         Support departmental leaders by providing financial data and spending analysis.

Inventory & Asset Management

·         Maintain inventory accounting records and support inventory control processes.

·         Participate in physical inventory counts and cycle count activities.

·         Investigate inventory discrepancies and assist with corrective action plans.

·         Support fixed asset accounting, capital project tracking, and asset reconciliation activities.

·         Document proper capitalization and depreciation of company assets.

Compliance & Internal Controls

·         Assist in maintaining effective internal controls and financial processes.

·         Support internal and external audit requests and documentation requirements.

·         Adhere to company policies, financial procedures, and reporting requirements.

·         Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls and process efficiency.

Business Partnership & Support

·         Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insight and support decision-making.

·         Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports for management.

·         Support capital expenditure reviews and return-on-investment analyses.

·         Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.

Minimum Requirements

·         Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

·         Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

·         Experience with financial reporting, account reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting.

·         Experience supporting inventory accounting and manufacturing operations preferred.

·         CPA, CMA, or progress toward professional certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

·         Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.

·         Understanding of manufacturing finance, cost accounting, inventory management, and operational metrics.

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

·         Ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful business insights.

·         Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

·         Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.

·         Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

·         Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a team environment.

·         High degree of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality.

Working Conditions

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to safely and successfully perform the essential functions of this job consistent with federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.

·         Work is performed in both office and manufacturing plant environments.

·         Frequent interaction with plant employees, leadership, and corporate IT teams.

·         Exposure to industrial conditions including noise, heat, and production equipment when on the plant floor.

·         Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in operational areas.

·         May require occasional after‐hours support, on‐call availability, or extended hours for system issues or project implementations.
