New Branch Business Development Manager

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and energetic business development professional who excels in building relationships and driving results across a select number of our strategic branches as part of our commitment to opening 150 new de novo branches in the U.S. The ideal candidate will be a people‑person with a passion for making connections, combined with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Solid knowledge of the geography and demographics of the state of California is considered an asset, but not required. Responsibilities Provide subject matter expertise in the design, development, management, and implementation of assigned projects from business case development through execution. Work across BMO to deliver specific project/program business results in alignment with overall group goals. Create innovative business development strategies to grow the business in collaboration with other BMO partners. Contribute to the development of marketing and sales materials for new business opportunities. Identify short‑ and long‑term value creation opportunities for target customer segments. Develop, maintain, and execute a business plan to achieve client retention objectives. Recommend and implement solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business. Act as a trusted advisor to assigned business/group, influencing and negotiating to achieve business objectives. Assist in the development of strategic plans and help determine business priorities and best sequence for execution of business/group strategy. Conduct independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues, ensuring alignment between stakeholders. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet business objectives. Break down strategic problems, analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations. Monitor and track performance, addressing any issues, and design and produce regular and ad‑hoc reports and dashboards. Build change‑management plans of varying scope and type; lead or participate in readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives. Lead or participate in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behaviour, develop tailored messaging, and identify appropriate distribution channels. Provide input into planning and implementation of operational programs. Execute routine tasks (e.g., service requests, transactions, queries, etc.) in accordance with applicable service level agreements. Act as a relationship manager on assigned projects/programs to ensure alignment with overall enterprise and group goals. Develop solutions and make recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs. Participate in project/program design to provide advice and subject matter expertise that facilitate the achievement of required business results. Analyze required data to inform strategic business development recommendations, considering the "big picture" to assess the advisability of a course of action toward meeting group and enterprise goals. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide business context in the design, development, and implementation of business development programs and solutions. Potentially network with industry contacts to gather and identify competitive insights and best practices. Lead or support change‑management activities to coordinate strategic business development initiatives across business/groups and support implementation logistics. Identify enablers and key issues prior to and during implementation of strategic business development initiatives, raising issues with stakeholders to resolve risks that jeopardize delivery. Apply risk‑management framework and risk culture to make sound and risk‑informed decisions that align with business strategy and protect assets, adhering to applicable policy documents, laws, and regulations. Qualifications 5–7 years of relevant experience; post‑secondary degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Solid knowledge of Lean process‑improvement methodology and established process analysis and improvement tools. Familiarity with testing strategies, test plans, and execution. Understanding of the business unit’s risk and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of the business unit’s transaction fulfillment procedures. Knowledge of process and/or project management. Deep technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience. Strong verbal & written communication skills (in‑depth). Collaboration & team skills (in‑depth). Analytical and problem‑solving skills (in‑depth). Influence skills (in‑depth). Data‑driven decision‑making skills (in‑depth). Salary Salary range: $88,800.00 – $165,600.00 (salaried). The range may vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications. For commission roles, the salary represents the expected target for the first year. Total compensation may include performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other perks.
