Senior Pricing Analyst (Multiple Offices)

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, a global Am Law 50 firm, is seeking a Senior Pricing Analyst to join our Pricing Team! We are looking to hire a well-qualified candidate for the position of Senior Pricing Analyst in any of the following offices: Downtown Los Angeles, Century City, Orange County, Downtown San Diego, Del Mar, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Chicago, Dallas, and Houston. This will be a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Senior Pricing Manager. The Senior Pricing Analyst will also work closely with partners and firm management. Job Summary The Senior Pricing Analyst serves as a key member of the firm’s Practice Management team and will be an important figure in further developing and evangelizing the Firm‘s profitability initiatives. S/he will be responsible for: developing budgets and financial models to help evaluate new and existing client fee arrangements, creating and analyzing special rate/fee structures for proposals and pitches, providing insight and support around Firm data collection priorities, and utilizing project management tools to support and train attorneys. Essential Functions Develop models to evaluate the financial impact of alternative fee structures and other rate/fee agreements, working to ensure such arrangements meet both client and firm goals. Collaborate with lawyers, practice management colleagues, and the marketing department to respond to RFPs, pitches, and other pricing proposals. Work with partners to enter budgets and other fee arrangement data into online matter management tool, then monitor and provide regular status reports to partners and management. Manage the data-mining process for new and existing matters. This includes gathering and maintaining information on fee arrangements, matter types, cost drivers, task coding, among other items. Work with the relevant stakeholders to ensure that client financial arrangements are properly articulated, updated, and documented in Firm’s pricing database. Research and analyze client financial performance to help identify trends and propose solutions where needed. Monitor compliance with Firm budgeting and pricing policies, as well as the financial aspects of client guidelines and terms; provide guidance to attorneys and support staff as needed. Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports related to all aspects of practice management. Lead pricing and profitability discussions and provide necessary data sets and expert input to support annual client pricing negotiations Complete special projects as assigned. Required Qualifications A minimum of three years of pricing analysis experience with a law firm Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with emphasis in areas of finance, cost, and pricing; Understanding of accounting and business principles; Outstanding interpersonal skills; the ability to project a polished, professional image, and communicate comfortably and confidently with all levels of personnel; Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete tasks with minimal supervision; Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree Major (if applicable): Finance, Accounting, or related discipline Computer/Software Knowledge Required: Fluency with the advanced features of Excel, as well as legal accounting systems (preferably Aderant); proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint and the ability to quickly learn and use software systems associated with designated responsibilities. Work Environment Working indoors with limited exposure to hazards (only those that customarily come up in working in a high-rise or office building). You will be based in one of our local Sheppard offices but will be allowed to work from home. You are required to come into the office on an as-needed basis. After hours and weekend work will be required on occasion as the workload requires. Travel Requirements Less than 10% Salary & Benefits California: The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $130,000 per year. Illinois: The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $130,000 per year. This position is eligible for bonuses. This position is also eligible for medical, vision, and dental insurance.
