Your Team

The finance function is becoming a much more central operating system inside BOLT FARM. As the business grows from a high-performing flagship into a larger, more complex portfolio, finance can no longer be reactive, outsourced, or dependent on messy manual processes.

You will partner directly with the CEO and department leaders, while also working with external tax advisors, banks, lenders, and internal technical support. The technical team can help build automation and dashboards. Your job is to make sure the accounting foundation underneath those tools is accurate, controlled, and trustworthy.

Your Role

As Financial Controller, you own the integrity of BOLT FARM’s books across all entities. Your mission is accurate, timely, well-controlled financials and cash-flow reporting that leadership can trust to make decisions.

This is a hands-on builder role for someone who has run the books before and knows what clean accounting actually requires. You will own the general ledger, month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, compliance, cash-flow forecasting, budgets, controls, and reporting rhythm.

This is not an FP&A-only seat. It is not a dashboard-only seat. It is not a “tell the bookkeeper what to do” role. We need someone who can own the accounting foundation, enforce financial discipline, and use systems to make finance faster, leaner, and more useful.

Responsibilities

Own the books across all entities, including the general ledger, chart of accounts, entity-level accuracy, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and multi-entity consolidation.

Run month-end and year-end close with discipline, documentation, and a clear path to a faster close cycle over time without sacrificing accuracy.

Own financial reporting, including monthly financial statements, budget-to-actuals, department-level visibility, unit-level reporting, and variance commentary that explains the “why,” not just the “what.”

Own cash-flow reporting and forecasting, including weekly cash visibility, rolling 13-week cash flow, upcoming obligations, construction draws, and growth investments.

Own regulatory, tax, and compliance processes, including sales, lodging, occupancy tax, 1099s, entity filings, and coordination with tax advisors, auditors, lenders, and other external partners.

Build and enforce accounting systems and controls, including QuickBooks or Sage Intacct structure, close processes, documentation, approval workflows, PO/spend controls, and internal control discipline.

Partner with banks, lenders, and advisors on financing, construction draws, lender reporting, documentation, and capital planning.

Build and maintain department- and entity-level budgets, helping leaders understand spend, tradeoffs, accountability, and ROI.

Identify cost savings, vendor-fee reductions, waste, margin opportunities, and expense discipline improvements without weakening accuracy, compliance, or controls.

Partner with the technical team to automate manual reporting and accounting workflows. You define the requirements, protect the accounting logic, and verify accuracy before any automated or AI-generated output drives decisions.

What Success Looks Like

In the first 90 days, you will understand the current entity structure and books, identify the biggest gaps and risks, stabilize the close, clean up the chart of accounts where needed, and create a clear plan for improving close speed, cash-flow reporting, budgets, controls, and compliance.

By 4 months, BOLT FARM should have a reliable monthly close calendar, cleaner multi-entity financials, trustworthy cash-flow reporting and forecasting, current tax/regulatory filings, and cleaner department-level budget visibility.

By 6 months, the company should have a more scalable accounting foundation: faster and cleaner close, strong controls, clean multi-entity consolidation, dependable cash planning, current compliance, and reporting leadership can rely on daily.

Key Outcomes

Accurate monthly financials on a consistent close schedule, with a credible path toward a faster close as controls mature.

Clean, on-time year-end close with a complete, audit-ready workpaper package.

Current and accurate tax/regulatory compliance across all entities and jurisdictions.

Cash-flow reporting and forecasting leadership trusts to see needs, risks, and opportunities early.

Strong controls, including enforced PO/approval process, reduced reclass corrections, and reconciliations that tie out every period.

Real-time dashboards and department scorecards that leadership actually uses.

Cost savings and vendor/waste reduction without weakening financial controls or accounting accuracy.

Minimum Requirements

7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or senior accounting lead with direct ownership of the general ledger, month-end close, year-end close, and financial statements.

Demonstrated ownership of month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, GAAP-basis financial statements, budget-to-actual reporting, and cash-flow forecasting.

Hands-on experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidation across multiple entities, locations, projects, or business units, including intercompany transactions.

Experience owning tax and regulatory compliance, including sales, lodging, occupancy tax, 1099s, entity filings, and direct coordination with external tax advisors, auditors, or lenders.

Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks or Sage Intacct, with the ability to structure the chart of accounts, close process, controls, reporting, and entity setup properly.

Experience building or improving financial processes, controls, dashboards, budgets, reporting workflows, expense discipline, or automation that reduced manual work and improved decision-making.

Strong internal-controls mindset, with the ability to build process discipline and enforce spend, approval, documentation, and reconciliation standards.

Comfort partnering directly with a CEO and department leaders and explaining financial information in plain English.

Nice to Have

CPA, active or inactive.

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience in hospitality, real estate, construction, development, property operations, or another asset-heavy / project-based business.

Experience with construction draws, lender reporting, bank financing, capital planning, or project-level financial documentation.

Experience standing up or improving purchase order systems, expense management tools, inventory controls, procurement systems, or labor tracking workflows.

Experience with tools such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Ramp, Gusto, PMS/billing systems, BI tools, dashboards, automation platforms, or AI-assisted reporting workflows.

Experience supporting a high-growth company where systems, controls, and accounting structure had to be built while the business was moving quickly.

Compensation

Base Salary: $120,000–$150,000

Placement within the base salary range is determined by the level of the role, scope of ownership, demonstrated controller experience, multi-entity accounting depth, close ownership, compliance experience, CPA status, systems strength, and readiness to operate as a trusted financial partner to leadership.

This role is eligible for performance bonus consideration tied to defined finance-scorecard outcomes such as close timeliness, control and compliance metrics, reporting quality, cash-flow reliability, dashboard adoption, and verified cost savings. Bonus details must be formally approved and included in an offer to be considered part of guaranteed compensation.

This role may also be eligible for profit sharing and free stays as part of BOLT FARM’s broader leadership compensation structure. Any incentive compensation, profit sharing, or additional upside is tied to approved company or finance scorecard outcomes and is not guaranteed unless formally included in an offer.
