Performs and leads general Security and Safety work in the protection of persons and property and the enforcement of applicable policies, procedures and regulations of Cayuga Health System as well as applicable Federal, State and Local laws to prevent loss due to accidents and incidents.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Protect patients, visitors, staff, and hospital property by maintaining a visible security presence, conducting interior and exterior patrols, controlling facility access, providing escorts and assistance, monitoring for unauthorized or suspicious activity, and responding promptly and professionally to security-related calls.
• Perform routine fire, life-safety, and security inspections of fire extinguishers, exits, stairwells, elevators, doors, lighting, signage, grounds, and other designated areas; identify hazards or deficiencies and take appropriate corrective action or promptly report concerns.
• Respond to and investigate security and safety incidents including disturbances, suspected criminal activity, missing persons or property, vandalism, accidents, property damage, fire alarms, power failures, and other emergencies; complete accurate and timely incident documentation and notify appropriate internal or external parties as required.
• Support compliance with applicable laws, organizational policies, and security procedures by enforcing parking and access requirements, monitoring safety and security practices, operating vehicles safely, maintaining required security logs and communications, and interacting with patients, visitors, staff, and members of the public professionally and respectfully.
• Support facility and departmental operations by performing minor equipment troubleshooting or repairs within role competency, assisting with snow and ice removal and other facility needs, providing interdepartmental support, maintaining required education and training, and contributing to a collaborative, responsive, and customer-focused work environment.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Education - High School Diploma / GED
• Experience - Able to drive vehicle in all weather conditions. Minimum of one year experience involving Security preferred but not necessary. Ability to produce an accurate and well written report. Ability to work alone or as part of a team. Good people skills.
• Licensure - A clean valid NYS Driver's license. Need to possess and/or ability to obtain a New York State Security Guard License

Physical Requirements:

• This position requires the ability to assist with lifting patients. Able to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time. Ability to walk up and down stairs. Good vision and hearing. Rotate and work irregular shifts. Able to work out of doors in all types of weather.

Location and Travel Requirements:

• Location: Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center- 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850
• Shift: Day/Evening/Night shifts scheduled as assigned
• Travel: 25% Travel to local locations may be requested to cover other Officers as needed

Pay Range Disclosure:

• Standard Range of $22.00 - $27.50 per hour
