Environmental Scientist II

In the role of Environmental Scientist II, we'll count on you to Collect project-related data, which may include research, conducting surveys for listed species, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, field investigations for wetlands, land use, etc Assimilate and manage data Prepare constraints mapping Define the level of environmental analysis required Conduct environmental impact assessments Perform complex assignments, making independent decisions on problems and methods Assist in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance Work independently on medium-size projects, or assist more-senior scientists on larger projects Perform other related duties as needed Physical Requirements Must be able to complete field site visits and record natural resource data in conditions that include sloped terrain, thick vegetation, and inclement weather Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone and email Must be able to effectively work in minimally supervised and/or unsupervised environments Work hours other than 8 to 5 which may include weekends and/or night shifts Must have a valid Driver's License Must be able to operate a motor vehicle day or night There will be required travel for project work based on the needs of the business Preferred Qualifications Preference given to local candidates Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field 5 years technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel) Strong environmental writing and communication skills Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe HDR is our company.
