Medical Assistant

NextCare Urgent Care is looking for PART-TIME energetic and enthusiastic Medical Assistants that like the challenge of a fast pace setting and working in a team environment. We are looking for customer-friendly and passionate Medical Assistants to be a part of our growing organization where patients and employees are our top priority.

This position is for PART-TIME WEEKENDS and there are two shifts available:

• 7:00 am - 4:30pm
• 4:00pm - 12:00am

Primary Responsibilities

• Assists provider with exams (including patient vitals), procedures and other processes related to direct patient care under direct supervision of the Provider and within the scope of practice of a Medical Assistant.
• Administers all forms of medications per policy and Provider direction and adheres to all safety protocols and procedures for medication administration.
• Will perform blood draws as per direction of the Provider
• May be responsible for urine collection for various testing to include employer drug screens
• May perform splinting and casting
• Conduct various type physicals such as sports physicals
• Performs other related duties specific to urgent care such as ear lavage, wound care and oxygen administration.
• Notifies the provider on duty promptly of all unusual patient occurrences including medication events on an incident report.
• Promptly notifies the Clinic Manager of patient or employee safety concerns.
• Follows guidelines and requirements of laboratory and clinical accreditation policies.
• Must be proficient in EMR/EHR
• Performs other related duties as assigned or described by Company policy.
• As a Medical Assistant, you may also be asked to support Front Office Reception. When working in the front office you will perform such duties as: keeping patients and families informed of wait times, monitor the flow of patients, process patients for discharge including preparing charges, collecting payment, obtaining all necessary signatures and issuing receipts.

Additional Laboratory Responsibilities May Include:

• Analytical Testing : Perform moderate-complexity clinical testing across authorized disciplines (e.g., Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis) in strict accordance with the laboratory's COLA-approved SOP manual.
• Quality Control & Calibration : Execute and document daily instrument calibrations, quality control (QC) tracking, and corrective actions for out-of-range values prior to reporting patient results.
• COLA Inspection Readiness : Maintain orderly, verifiable, and audit-ready logs for all pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical activities to ensure seamless biennial COLA on-site surveys.
• Competency & Training: Participate in mandatory, documented competency assessments (semiannually in the first year of employment, and annually thereafter) covering all six CLIA-mandated elements.
• Proficiency Testing (PT) : Successfully test and document blind proficiency testing samples exactly like patient specimens, adhering to strict anti-commingling regulations.
• Specimen & EMR Processing : Accession, process, centrifuge, and evaluate sample integrity, reporting data accurately into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Critical Value Notification : Promptly recognize critical, life-threatening results and follow immediate notification protocols to the attending Texas healthcare provider.

Essential Education, Experience and Skills:

ARIZONA

Education: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; AND

1. Completed an APPROVED (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.

OR

1. Completed an UNAPPROVED (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program AND a National Certification through one of the following:

• American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) - administers the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and certification; or
• American Medical Technologists (AMT) -- provides the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam and certification to individuals who have completed the AMT criteria; or
• National Healthcareer Association (NHA)-administers the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam and certification
