State Counsel Division – Adult Survivors Act Unit, White Plains Project Attorney (18‑Month Term Position) Reference No. ASA_WP_PA_3894 Application Deadline: August 14, 2026 Salary Range : $83,594 – $178,463 + $4,000 in location pay We are seeking a skilled attorney with civil and/or criminal trial experience for the Adult Survivors Act (ASA) Unit in White Plains. The selected attorney will be hired as a Project Attorney for an 18‑month term with the possibility of a 12‑month extension. The Project Attorney will litigate and defend ASA claims against the State of New York in the Court of Claims, working statewide to develop consistent litigation strategies. Responsibilities Handle all phases of litigation from inception to trial, including drafting pleadings and papers, motion practice, discovery, and deposition. Select and work with expert witnesses, negotiate settlements, and prepare for trial. Represent the State of New York at mediation and trial. Qualifications At least 3 years of post‑graduate legal experience, including civil and/or criminal trial experience. Strong legal research, writing, analysis, negotiation, oral advocacy, and organizational skills. Experience defending or prosecuting sexual assault cases (civil or criminal) is a plus. Requirements Applicants must reside in or plan to become a resident of New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York. Public Officers Law requires OAG attorneys to be U.S. citizens. A two‑year commitment after hire is a condition of employment.
