Provides oversight, mentorship, guidance and training to others.Job SummaryLead complex projects / solve complex technical issues on projectsAsses the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks, and work with a Project Manager to determine the scope of work, budget, and staffingWrite scope of work for mechanical design based on preliminary review and meetings with the clientPrepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systemsAnalyze operation of HVAC existing systemsBased on knowledge of applicable building codes, work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is requiredAssign and review work of project design teamCheck progress of work and alert Project Manager to change of scope or additional servicesReview contractor application for paymentsCoordinate all aspects of project document completion within company and externally with clients and other design professionalsPrepare or review construction budgets based on experience and scope of projectSupervise staff on multiple projects, provide assertive management, technical leadership and support to team members, verify that all work is completed as planned and scheduled in compliance with client, and company quality assurance practicesMentor younger staffQualificationsBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering10+ years of Mechanical/HVAC design experience in the MEP consulting industryProficiency in the latest version of AutoCAD, Revit, design, and calculation softwarePE preferredStrong technical knowledgeAbility to work on several concurrent projectsExpert knowledge of local design and building codesExcellent communication skills. Ability to effectively interface and become a Trusted Advisor with clientsThorough understanding of construction process
