Assistant Basketball Coach, Pingree School

Pingree School is seeking a motivated, positive, and knowledgeable Assistant Basketball Coach to support the continued growth and success of our basketball program. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to develop student-athletes on and off the court, promote a competitive and team-first culture, and uphold the values and expectations of Pingree School athletics. The ideal candidate is passionate about coaching, understands the importance of player development, and is committed to building strong relationships with student-athletes. This role requires strong communication, organization, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to support practices, games, team culture, and program goals throughout the season. Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach with planning and running practices, drills, skill development sessions, and game preparation. Support player development in fundamentals, basketball IQ, teamwork, conditioning, and competitive mindset. Help create a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team environment that reflects Pingree School’s values. Provide instruction, feedback, and encouragement to student-athletes during practices and games. Assist with game-day responsibilities, including warmups, substitutions, bench management, scouting, and in-game adjustments. Promote sportsmanship, accountability, commitment, and leadership among student-athletes. Communicate effectively with coaches, players, families, and athletic department staff as needed. Support program logistics, including equipment, scheduling, transportation coordination, and team communication. Attend all practices, games, team meetings, and athletic department meetings as required. Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes. Qualifications Previous basketball coaching or competitive playing experience preferred. Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, team concepts, and player development. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with high school student-athletes. Commitment to creating a positive, respectful, and team-oriented environment. Strong leadership, organization, reliability, and professionalism. Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and athletic department. Availability for practices, games, and occasional weekend or evening commitments during the season. Must meet all school and athletic department background check requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience coaching at the high school, club, AAU, or collegiate level.
