Community Development SpecialistWCMHS is seeking a Community Support Specialist to make a direct, lasting impact by empowering individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to build independence, confidence, and meaningful connections in their communities.Through personalized, hands-on support, this role helps people develop daily living, social, and life skills that support their goals and aspirations. By fostering inclusion and encouraging active participation in community life, the Community Support Specialist helps individuals strengthen their sense of belonging and enhance their overall quality of life.Summary of DutiesImplement individualized service plans while keeping track of progress according to agency standardsSupport individuals’ development towards independence, including cooking, budgeting, and communicationTransport clients safely to appointments, community activities, employment, and other essential destinationsMonitor client safety and respond appropriately in emergenciesEstablish professional, positive, and supportive relationships with individuals, families, and community partnersProvide respectful and safe daily support to clients in residential settingsCompensation and BenefitsWCMHS provides a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, retirement, and a generous paid time off package including flexible holidays and 12 vacation days in year one.The starting pay range for this position is $19.06 - $20.24 per hourSummary of QualificationsHigh school completion or equivalentValid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and consistent, regular access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicleStrong communication skillsPositive regard for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, autism, and co-occurring mental health or substance use disordersTeam player with a collaborative approachAbility to maintain a calm demeanor and utilize de-escalation skillsThe ability to deliver services and complete treatment notes in EnglishWorkplace ConditionsWorking in a variety of locations including program spaces, residential environments, and in the community, working with clients who may have difficult behaviors, transporting clients with one’s car is required, and the ability to lift up to 50lbs.
