A growing rural health dermatology practice is seeking a compassionate and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with a background in medical dermatology to join its collaborative clinical team.
This position focuses exclusively on medical dermatology and is ideal for a provider who values continuity of care, patient education, and improving access to dermatologic services in underserved communities.
The provider will diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of medically necessary skin conditions while working closely with supervising physicians to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dermatologic evaluations, including full-body skin examinations
- Diagnose and manage common and chronic dermatologic conditions including:
- Acne
- Eczema
- Psoriasis
- Rosacea
- Dermatitis
- Fungal infections
- Rashes
- Identify and treat precancerous and cancerous lesions including:
- Actinic Keratosis (AK)
- Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)
- Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)
- Melanoma
- Perform dermatologic procedures including:
- Shave biopsies
- Punch biopsies
- Excisional biopsies
- Cryotherapy
- Lesion removal
- Wound care and post-procedure management
- Order, review, and interpret dermatopathology and diagnostic testing
- Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
- Prescribe medications and therapies according to clinical guidelines
- Educate patients on skin health, disease prevention, and treatment expectations.
- Master's degree from an accredited NP or PA program
- Active North Carolina NP or PA license
- National certification:
- AANP or ANCC for Nurse Practitioners
- NCCPA for Physician Assistants
- Minimum 1 year of dermatology experience required
- Strong diagnostic and procedural skills
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Dermatology certification (DCNP or equivalent) or willingness to pursue certification
- Experience performing dermatologic procedures
- Familiarity with dermatoscopy and EMR systems
- Interest in rural health and long-term patient care relationships
