Emergency Management Coordinator Intern

Responsibilities Assist Emergency Management Coordinators in developing emergency response plans and procedures. Assist Emergency Management Coordinators in developing, planning, conducting, and evaluating emergency exercises and drills. Assist the department’s radiological emergency preparedness program by coordinating county response efforts for incidents at the Palo Verde Generating Station. Attend emergency management trainings and other formal educational classes regionally. Assist in the implementation and management of the Securing the Cities program. Engage in emergency response operations at the County Emergency Operations Center during exercises and real‑world activations as needed. Support community all‑hazards education and public outreach to spread awareness of emergency preparedness topics. This position requires the employee to be in office, field, or customer‑facing for all hours worked. Qualifications Current graduate student or undergraduate junior or senior in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Public Health or another related program. Completion of FEMA IS‑100, IS‑200, and either IC‑S‑300 or IC‑S‑400, or ability to complete within one month of the hire date.
