The BIM Specialist oversees digital project management and Building Information Modeling (BIM) strategies to strengthen the organization’s position and support collaboration across pursuits and projects. This role leads BIM coordination, drives the development and implementation of digital delivery standards, and supports a diverse portfolio of project types. The BIM Specialist partners closely with production and construction teams to deliver high-quality digital models, ensure effective coordination, and optimize project outcomes throughout the entire project life cycle.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and advance the digital project management strategy to support collaboration across activities, pursuits, and projects.

• Work on a variety of projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients, providing BIM expertise and guidance.

• Lead BIM coordination efforts, collaborating with a national practice and supporting the overall digital delivery strategy.

• Lead the development of digital delivery standards, processes, and tools in close collaboration with production departments.

• Provide detailed fabrication models to construction teams on design-build projects to support accurate and efficient construction.

• Manage and execute the QA/QC process to monitor the development of digital delivery scopes of work, schedules, and budgets across the project life cycle.

• Lead clash detection activities and ensure that reporting, tracking, and resolution processes are consistently followed.

• Lead the preparation of digital model presentations for clients to clearly communicate design intent and project progress.

• Lead the preparation of virtual reality simulations for internal and external stakeholders to enhance project understanding and decision-making.

• Review project-related research data and perform metadata audits to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with standards.

• Lead the proposal process to define and communicate an effective digital delivery strategy for new opportunities.

• Lead the presentation of digital delivery project budgets and estimates to project stakeholders.

• Lead the implementation of digital delivery project management methods, procedures, and tools across assigned projects.

• Track and report model development status, project schedules, and digital delivery compliance to maintain transparency and accountability.

• Maintain responsibility for QA/QC processes related to digital delivery, ensuring models and documentation meet established standards.

Essential Skills

• At least 8 years of experience in BIM, virtual design and construction, or a closely related field.

• Expert ability to utilize 2D and 3D applications for design, modeling, and coordination.

• Proficiency with Revit for BIM modeling and coordination.

• Strong experience in BIM workflows within design-build and construction engineering environments.

• Working knowledge of engineering calculations, design principles, and design systems.

• Demonstrated ability to lead clash detection and manage resolution processes.

• Proven experience developing and implementing digital delivery standards, processes, and tools.

• Ability to oversee QA/QC processes for digital models, scopes, schedules, and budgets.

• Strong communication skills for preparing and delivering model presentations to clients and stakeholders.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with production and construction teams on complex projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Virtual Design and Construction, Engineering Technology, or a related field from an accredited program.

• Experience supporting digital delivery strategies across multiple project types and clients.

• Experience preparing virtual reality simulations for internal and external stakeholders.

• Experience tracking and reporting model development, schedules, and digital delivery compliance.

• Ability to contribute to proposals by defining and presenting digital delivery strategies, budgets, and estimates.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of digital model quality and data integrity.

Work Environment

The BIM Specialist works in a professional, technology-driven environment focused on digital delivery and BIM-enabled project execution. The role involves extensive use of 2D and 3D design applications, including Revit and other BIM tools, to support design-build and construction engineering projects. Work typically takes place in an office or hybrid office setting, collaborating closely with production and construction teams as well as national practice groups. The position supports a diverse range of project types and clients, with a strong emphasis on coordination, quality control, and innovation in digital workflows.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $58.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
