Job Title: Nursing - RN Float Pool Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years MedSurg experience License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Chest tube management Stable trach management IV skills Port/central lines Knowledge of CPAP/BiPAP/Airvo Foley insertion/care Feeding tube management Cardiac rhythm interpretation Titrating drips (Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, argatroban) EPIC experience Description: This position is part of a Float Pool. Travelers will be required to float to various units within the facility where MedSurg patients are located. Patient types include: General Medical Surgical Oncology, caring for oncology patients and outpatients receiving infusions. Pediatric patients may be present on the floor, but no pediatric experience is required. Common surgical cases include gallbladders, appendectomies, colectomies, ostomies, and TURPs. General medical cases may involve cellulitis, GI bleeds, CHF, and COPD. Ortho/Neuro observation patients may present with chest pain, dizziness, or syncope. Post-procedure cardiac patients may have undergone catheterization, TEE, or cardioversion. Patient ratios are approximately 1:4-6 during days and 1:6 during nights. Support staff includes a Health Unit Coordinator days only and a Certified Nursing Assistant. Charge nurses manage patient assignments. Phlebotomy services are available for peripheral lab draws. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Hospitalist coverage is available 24/7, and communication is conducted through a secure chat. Occupational, physical, and speech therapy are available weekdays with limited weekend hours. Remote telemonitoring may be required if tele technicians are short-staffed. Shifts will be scheduled every four to six weeks. Weekend rotation is required every other weekend. Holiday expectations may include working approximately 50% of the holidays during the contract period. Scrubs should be solid colors, professional without graphics or logos.
