Position Overview and Responsibilities:

The Submerged Lands and Environmental Resource Coordination (SLERC) program is accepting applications for a full-time career service Planner I position. The SLERC program is responsible for the consistent implementation of the Environmental Resource Permitting programs statewide. The Program regulates activities in, on or over surface waters or wetlands, as well as any activity involving the alteration of surface water flows. This is a professional position drafting, reviewing, editing, and preparing rulemaking documents for the program. The position would be expected to coordinate with agency attorneys to ensure that agency rulemaking procedures are followed and completed on time. Organizing and assisting with the preparation and public presentations related to ongoing rulemaking along with compiling comments from the public and other interested parties would be a routine duty.

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 4 years of verifiable related experience in planning, evaluation, research, analysis, business, government or fiscal work. Post-secondary degrees may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis. A credential evaluation report from an approved agency must be submitted along with all foreign degrees.
• A valid driver's license

Position of Special Trust Requirement:

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with the rules and statutes governing the State's regulatory and proprietary programs.
• Experience with drafting and reviewing reports and presentation materials.
• Experience with drafting state regulatory rules.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.
