The successful candidate will be able to perform structural analysis on new and revised designs of landing gear parts and mechanisms. Responsible for static strength assessment, an understanding of internal gas and fluid pressures, gear strokes, and retract and extension mechanisms. What You Will Be Doing Work directly with designers to convey requirements and to verify compliant products. Employ fundamental and complex engineering analysis to structurally size parts for the severe environment of a fifth‑generation fighter jet and autonomous aircraft. Use cutting‑edge analytical tools including Hypermesh, Nastran, Patran, Abaqus, Mathcad, and Lockheed Martin proprietary tools in your evaluations. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Mechanics. Minimum of 12 years of experience in structural analysis of landing gear. Experience in developing, running, and working with finite element models. Experience with gas laws and load‑stroke curves. Experience in a collaborative work environment with good interpersonal skills for conversing with teammates. Desired Skills Experience with FEA tools such as Nastran, Patran, Abaqus, and Hypermesh. Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Excel spreadsheet mathematical calculations and macro coding highly desired. Familiarity with Catia and 3DX. Security Clearance Statement This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Secret. Schedules range from a standard 40‑hour, five‑day work week to condensed schedules that offer employees additional time away from the office and are in addition to paid time off benefits.
