Responsibilities

Summary of Essential Duties:

• The Per Diem Blood Donor RN functions under supervision by charge nurse or senior licensed technical/clinical personnel
• Collecting whole blood from voluntary blood donors and performing blood component collection in house and on mobile blood drive sites
• Serves as a problem-solving resource
• Performs routine and specialized operational and support functions, such as assessment of health histories of blood and apheresis donors, stocking up supplies and assisting with setting up and breaking down of mobile blood drive sites with equipment and supplies
• Performs blood component collection by apheresis for red cells, platelets and plasma
• Participates in special projects and assignments as specified

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program required

License/Certification Requirements:

• Current, unrestricted California RN License required

Experience:

• A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required
• Prior blood donor experience preferred, but not required
