The Town of Westford, MA seeks a proactive, seasoned municipal leader committed to excellence to serve as its next Town Manager. Westford is a welcoming New England community known for outstanding public services, award-winning schools, a rich history, and a high quality of life. Located along the I-495/Route 3 corridor, 35 miles northwest of Boston, the Town offers abundant recreational amenities and convenient access to Greater Boston and New Hampshire.

This full-service municipality operates under an Open Town Meeting form of government with a five-member Select Board and Town Manager. Supported by two (2) Assistant Town Managers and an experienced department head team, the Manager oversees an FY2027 operating budget of approximately $144 million, a capital budget exceeding $12 million, and more than 480 full- and part-time employees, excluding the School Department. Westford has a strong tradition of prudent financial management, substantial reserves, an AAA bond rating, and a strong residential, commercial, and industrial tax base.

The next Town Manager will lead Westford at an important time, balancing significant capital needs and long-term financial sustainability while advancing economic development, strengthening the commercial tax base, executing the Town’s strategic priorities, and maintaining the high-quality municipal services residents expect.

The ideal candidate will have at least seven (7) years of senior-level municipal administration experience and a demonstrated record of leading a complex public organization. Candidates should bring strong experience in operating and capital budgeting, long-range financial planning, major facilities and infrastructure initiatives, organizational leadership and staff development, collective bargaining and labor relations, and collaboration with elected officials, boards, committees, employees, and residents.

A Master’s in Public Administration or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and substantial municipal executive experience will be considered.

The Town has established a salary range of $225,000 to $255,000, with a competitive benefits package commensurate with qualifications and experience.
