COTA Job DescriptionJob Purpose: Implement occupational therapy programs and services under the guidance of a Licensed Occupational Therapist, following facility policies and staying within the COTA scope of practice. The role considers each resident's physical condition and age-related needs.Key Responsibilities:Provide occupational therapy treatments according to the OT's established plan of care.Assist residents/patients with improving functional abilities and independence.Work on activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, bathing, and functional tasks.Conduct therapeutic activities and exercises as directed by the supervising OT.Monitor and document patient/resident response and progress.Communicate changes in condition or progress to the supervising Occupational Therapist.Assist with maintaining treatment records and required documentation.Follow safety procedures, facility policies, and COTA scope-of-practice requirements.Provide age-appropriate care based on individual resident needs.Required Qualifications:Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy.Appropriate COTA certification/registration.Ability to practice within the COTA scope under supervision of a licensed OT.Experience with geriatric/skilled-nursing residents would be helpful, particularly because Nathan Littauer provides OT services in its nursing-home setting.Candidate Screening — Must Haves:Associate's degree in Occupational TherapyCOTA certification/registrationAble to work under a licensed OTExperience providing occupational therapy treatments
