Maintenance Technician

Company Description East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation (EANDC) is a community-focused organization offering integrated services to support stable housing and neighborhood revitalization. The Center for Homeownership provides classes and counseling in homebuyer education, financial literacy, and foreclosure intervention. EANDC’s Energy Services team delivers energy efficiency audits and weatherization programs to help residents reduce utility costs. Through Property Management, EANDC offers rental, purchase, and lease-to-own housing options, as well as commercial leasing. Community Development initiatives promote resident leadership, repurpose vacant lots, create quality housing and commercial spaces, and guide future investment in the neighborhood. Role Description The Maintenance Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Akron, Ohio, responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of residential and commercial properties managed by EANDC. Daily responsibilities include performing routine inspections, responding to work orders, and completing repairs on building systems, fixtures, and equipment. The role involves troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and supporting seasonal tasks such as snow removal and landscaping. The Maintenance Technician will coordinate with property management staff, vendors, and residents to schedule repairs, document work performed, and ensure timely resolution of maintenance needs. This role also includes maintaining inventory of tools and supplies, following safety protocols, and supporting emergency maintenance calls as needed. Qualifications Strong skills in Maintenance & Repair, including general building systems, fixtures, and minor construction. Experience with Equipment Maintenance and Industrial Maintenance in residential and/or light commercial settings. Ability to perform Troubleshooting on basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues. Demonstrated experience with Preventive Maintenance programs, inspections, and documentation. High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance or a related field is preferred. Working knowledge of building safety codes, OSHA guidelines, and safe use of hand and power tools. Ability to lift and carry moderate weights, climb ladders, and work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel between properties as required. Effective communication skills, reliability, and a customer-service mindset when interacting with residents and colleagues. Previous experience in property maintenance, facilities management, or a similar role is strongly preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
