ArtCenter College of Design is searching for an experienced Project Manager, Campus Planning – Two‑Year Fixed‑Term (starting 07/01/26). This full‑time on‑site position will oversee College tenant improvement projects, real‑estate development projects, and the maintenance of College buildings. The role reports to the Director, Campus Planning. Salary range: $85,000.00 – $90,000.00, Exempt. Final salary is based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity. Job Summary This Project Manager will lead site projects, coordinate with outside contractor firms, direct site contractor workers, track work progress against goals, obtain proposals for work, and monitor budgets. The incumbent will interface with key college leadership, representatives of departments, and provide updates to College Committees. Essential Functions Project Management – 70% Manage feasibility studies for projects and provide recommendations to the Director, Campus Planning and Vice President, Facilities and Campus Planning. Participate in the development of the scope of work and financial planning for improvements. Plan and provide oversight of major repair and capital improvements to existing College real estate assets. Draft drawing sets for bidding by contractors and vendors. Participate in the selection of project consultants, contractors and architects. Coordinate and communicate with key internal department representatives (Facilities, Environmental Health and Safety, Campus Security, Network Services, Media Services, Client Services, Support Services and Auxiliary Services). Enforce all College policies and collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety/Risk Management (EHS) in EEE to maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment. Oversee all aspects of permitting and site work, and monitor progress against designated deadlines in contracts. Identify risks, critical issues and problems and present them to the appropriate individuals within the College, providing recommendations for resolution. Establish relationships within the ArtCenter community, city, and local residents, and work effectively with all members. Assist in the development of the department’s operation plan, budget, and performance outcomes. Represent the Campus Planning Department at ArtCenter’s Committee and Council meetings. Manage outsourced owner representatives from construction management companies, engineers, architects, installation vendors directly contracted to the college and on‑site movers/labor as assigned. Budget Management – 25% Monitor project budgets in collaboration with the Director, Construction Manager and Controller, tracking spending to ensure projects are completed within approved budgets. Coordinate and track project purchasing and expenses, process project purchase orders and check requisitions, and ensure project invoices are approved for payment. Prepare project expense reports and assist in the compilation of project budgets and administrative documentation for the Campus Planning Department and internal users. Regularly coordinate with Facilities and Campus Planning department analyst to ensure accuracy of department and project budgets. Assist with third‑party vendor contracts and Purchase Order coordination for projects as needed, gathering required documents for the College. Non‑Essential – 5% Maintain memberships and active involvement in applicable professional organizations. Serve on college‑wide committees. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Planning or Construction Management from an accredited college or university; or equivalent combination of training and experience. At least five years of experience in direct management of small to mid‑size projects, including responsibility for site analysis, permits and approvals, budget control, estimating, design and construction coordination, and project scheduling. Experience managing staff and vendors on multiple projects. Working knowledge of environmentally sustainable materials and operational practices related to construction. Working knowledge of California Building Codes, Americans with Disabilities Act, and local jurisdictional codes. Excellent knowledge of sound safety practices and identification of safety risks. Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines. Computer skills using construction industry software, MS Office Suite, AutoCAD 2022 or newer, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam. Must possess excellent communication skills (oral and written), effective customer service, problem‑solving, and analytical skills. Experience working both independently and in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment. Demonstrated experience in cultivating an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment in diverse workplaces. Ability to maintain good working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders related to ongoing department operations, including professional associates, outside partners, executive leadership, administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Adept at conducting research into project‑related issues and products. Knowledge and familiarity with all construction phases from design, permitting, contracting, bidding, construction and closeout. Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritize competing demands with diplomacy and candor. Valid California driver license. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited college or institution or equivalent education. Prior experience in higher education. Prior experience with capital and non‑capital funding sources. Revit software familiarity. Physical Demands and Working Environment Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 20 pounds); and to use modern office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, including a computer keyboard. Regular and consistent attendance is required. Must be able to travel between campuses. Exposure to fumes, dust, and noise is possible during on‑site work.
