Youth Program AssistantThe Youth Program Assistant will lead daily activities and engage youth in education-centered after-school and summer youth programs, including but not limited to, homework/academic assistance, fitness, reading, and enrichment. Responsibilities will be carried out in a predominantly in-person setting with virtual programming if necessary.Primary Duties/ResponsibilitiesPrepare the learning environment, lessons, and necessary supplies for program activities in an in-person and virtual settingPlan and lead meaningful activities that include; but are not limited to, arts and crafts, reading, character development, physical fitness, and/or nutrition in a physical and online setting for students at the intended work site and other sites as neededPrimary activities will have a stronger focus on STEM/STEAM, coding, robotics, and 3D printing, academic support in mathematicsAssist children with homework and academic enrichment activitiesEnsure the safety and supervision of studentsPromote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all participantsMaintain accurate program documentationMaintain a clean and organized classroom as well as common areasMaintain a safe working environment for studentsMinimum RequirementsAvailable to work Monday through Friday from 2:30-6:15, with more hours as needed.High school diploma or equivalentMust be eligible to work in the United States and be able to pass a criminal background check with a Fingerprint checkProficiency in basic computer skills such as navigating websites, using email suites (Gmail, Outlook, etc.), and search enginesPrior use of, or willingness to learn, online educational tools such as Google Classrooms, Zoom, and ClassDojo, amongst othersFlexibility to meet the changing work needs and demandsAbility to lead various fitness activities as well as supervise/participate in sportsAbility to organize activities and make sound judgmentsAbility to interact with a range of age groupsPreferred RequirementsBilingual (Spanish)Six months of experience working with children; preferably providing educational and/or support to economically disadvantaged familiesCoursework in Education, Child Development, and/or other related fieldsKnowledgeable in the fields of STEAM, particularly coding, robotics, and 3d Printing.Working ConditionsAbility to work in all types of climate atmospheres (hot and cold temperatures) and wet environments, both inside and outside. Occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials can be expected. May be asked to clean up bodily fluids with appropriate training and personal protective equipment provided.Physical RequirementsProlonged periods of standing and frequent bending. Must be willing and able to lift small children, sit/stand or play for 2 hours at a time.Compensation$19.65 /hourThis position profile identifies the key responsibilities and expectations for performance.
