The Role As our Multi-Unit Retail Manager, you will oversee a growing portfolio of Last Crumb retail locations, including brick‑and‑mortar stores, extended holiday markets, and pop‑up experiences. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for building exceptional teams, driving operational excellence, and delivering consistent financial performance across every location. You will partner closely with the Head of Business Operations to scale the retail business, refine operating systems, and build the infrastructure needed for continued expansion. This role is not simply about maintaining operations. You will help shape them. Key Responsibilities Own recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and staffing across retail locations, holiday markets, and pop‑up experiences. Build schedules and team coverage based on forecasted sales, traffic, operational needs, and labor targets. Coach, develop, and manage performance across retail teams, maintaining clear standards of accountability and addressing performance concerns promptly and fairly. Develop strong store‑level leaders and create clear ownership and accountability within each location. Drive employee retention and engagement while managing coaching and conflict resolution constructively. Ensure teams are consistently trained on products, menu launches, promotions, operational changes, and brand standards. Review and approve timecards and PTO requests while ensuring scheduling and employment practices comply with applicable labor laws. Financial & Business Performance Own sales performance across locations against established budgets, forecasts, and sales targets. Manage labor cost percentage through thoughtful scheduling, forecasting, and real‑time adjustments. Monitor inventory variance, waste, shrink, and other controllable operating costs. Identify opportunities to improve revenue, profitability, and operational efficiency. Ensure payroll information, cash handling, reconciliation, and deposits are accurate and timely. Retail Operations & Guest Experience Oversee day‑to‑day operations across locations and ensure consistent execution of Last Crumb standards. Maintain a consistent and highly visible presence across locations, particularly during peak service periods, launches, and high‑volume events. Maintain accurate inventory and disciplined ordering practices while managing vendor relationships and supply issues. Ensure locations remain clean, safe, organized, guest‑ready, and compliant with NYC Department of Health, food safety, and applicable operational requirements. Proactively address maintenance, facilities, equipment, and safety issues. Lead execution of menu launches, seasonal programs, promotions, and operational initiatives. Maintain visual merchandising, product quality, and Last Crumb brand standards across every location. Optimize speed of service, queue management, and team deployment during peak periods. Uphold an exceptional standard of hospitality and empower teams to resolve guest concerns quickly and thoughtfully. Systems, Communication & Growth Maintain timely and accurate sales, labor, tip, inventory, and operational reporting. Maintain clear, consistent communication between retail teams and HQ with strong responsiveness and follow‑through. Proactively escalate operational, staffing, facilities, and performance issues before they become larger problems. Identify operational challenges and bring forward thoughtful, actionable solutions. Help develop, document, and continuously improve scalable retail processes as Last Crumb expands. Qualifications 4+ years of food retail or quick‑service management experience required; multi‑unit management experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience recruiting, training, scheduling, and leading hourly teams. Experience managing sales, labor budgets, inventory, waste, and other store‑level financial metrics. NYC Food Handlers Certificate required Excellent communication, leadership, delegation, and problem‑solving skills. Decisive, proactive, and comfortable operating with a high degree of ownership. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple locations and competing priorities. Emotional intelligence and strong coaching and conflict‑resolution capabilities. Comfortable working evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal periods as needed. Comfortable working hands‑on alongside the team when operational needs require it. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, regularly bend, reach, push, pull, and navigate stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment and remain calm under pressure. What Success Looks Like Locations consistently achieve sales and labor targets while maintaining disciplined inventory, waste, shrink, and controllable costs. Teams are appropriately staffed, effectively trained, engaged, coached, and retained. Strong store‑level leaders take ownership of day‑to‑day execution and team performance. Every location consistently meets Last Crumb standards for operations, cleanliness, food safety, visual presentation, and opening and closing procedures. Service remains fast, organized, and hospitality‑driven, particularly during peak periods. Guest concerns are resolved effectively, and recurring issues lead to operational improvements. Sales, labor, tip, inventory, payroll, and operational reporting is timely and accurate. Issues are identified early, communicated proactively, and accompanied by thoughtful solutions. The retail organization continues to improve its systems, processes, and operating discipline as it grows. Leadership demonstrates strong alignment with company culture and values, initiative, accountability, growth, and coachability. This is a primarily on‑site role with time spent across Last Crumb retail locations and occasional work from our home office as business needs require.
