Maintenance Technician (1st Shift)

Bldgs GI Plant, Chief Buildings Plant, 2391 S North Rd, PO Box 2078, Grand Island, NE 68802, USA Responsible for advanced maintenance and repairs of facility and industrial equipment, enhancing productivity through the installation of new machinery, designing electrical systems, programming PLCs, and documenting their activities while participating in training programs to ensure skill development and safety compliance. Responsibilities Carrying out responsibilities with safety and efficiency as a priority; prioritizing the well-being of colleagues and actively contributing to the safety program through collaboration, idea sharing, and voicing concerns; adhering to training guidelines, policies, and procedures while maintaining a clean and organized workspace; proactively identifying and addressing potential hazards. Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on industrial equipment. Install, modify, and maintain machinery and systems to ensure optimal performance. Accurately read blueprints, schematics, micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and wiring diagrams for repair and adjustment work. Perform construction, plumbing, concrete, and carpentry work to support building repairs and reconstruction projects. Work independently or as a team with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong self‑management skills. Accurately complete all required paperwork and enter job‑related data into computer systems. Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material‑handling equipment to safely and efficiently transport materials as required. Shift 1st Shift - 6:00 am - 4:30 pm 2nd Shift - 4:30 pm - 3:00 am Education High School Diploma or GED, preferred. Previous experience in a Maintenance Mechanic or similar industrial maintenance role. Welding experience is a plus, though not required. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and adherence to workplace safety protocols. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to resolve equipment issues efficiently. Proficiency in mechanical systems, including pneumatics and hydraulics, along with electrical systems including PLCs and variable frequency drives.
