POSITION SUMMARY As our Events and Community Engagement Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing events that resonate with our community, advance our mission, and strengthen community partnerships across Northern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin. This position leads an established annual calendar of approximately 8 to 10 signature events bringing fresh, creative spins and innovative execution to these beloved community traditions while also conceptualizing new initiatives. Working collaboratively with cross-functional support across programming, production, engineering, membership, and marketing, you will ensure our community presence is vibrant, well-coordinated, and impactful. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Signature & New Event Management: Lead the coordination and creative execution of 8 to 10 established annual station events, infusing new energy, interactive elements, and creative formats into recurring favorites while developing fresh, mission-aligned event concepts. Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Serve as the central hub for event logistics, partnering closely with internal teams (production, radio programming, marketing, and development) to coordinate promotions, technical setups, and staffing support. End-to-End Logistics: Manage all event operational details, including venue selection, vendor contracting, equipment sourcing, permit acquisition, run-of-show schedules, and day-of, on-site coordination. Community Engagement & Inclusion: Develop strategies to maximize community participation, ensuring all events and outreach initiatives are accessible, welcoming, and reflective of diverse regional voices. Partnership Development: Cultivate strong relationships with local organizations, cultural institutions, educational groups, businesses, and venues to co-create value-aligned community events. Community & Third-Party Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for community appearance requests, station tabling opportunities, and external co-sponsored events. Budget Oversight: Create, monitor, and reconcile event budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost-effective vendor management. CORE COMPETENCIES & REQUIRED SKILLS Creative Vision & Execution: Ability to bring fresh, innovative ideas to existing events and translate community themes into memorable in-person and multimedia experiences. Strong Organization & Multitasking: Proven ability to manage multiple event timelines, vendor deliverables, budgets, and logistics simultaneously with high attention to detail. Cross-Functional Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to engage internal colleagues, external partners, vendors, volunteers, and the public effectively. Vendor & Contract Negotiation: Demonstrated ability to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and reliable partner agreements. Adaptability & Problem-Solving: Resourceful and composed under pressure, with the agility to navigate day-of event changes, weather contingencies, or logistical shifts smoothly. Community Awareness: Understanding of regional community dynamics and a commitment to public media's role in local storytelling and education. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, event management, public relations, nonprofit administration, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience coordinating events, community outreach, or public programs, preferably within media, arts, or nonprofit sectors. Demonstrated success in building collaborative partnerships with diverse community stakeholders. WORK SCHEDULE & PHYSICAL DEMANDS Schedule: Full-time position. Standard office hours with regular requirements for evening and weekend availability during scheduled station events and community appearances. Physical Requirements: Frequent walking, standing, sitting, using computer screens, and local travel throughout the viewing/listening area. Ability to lift, transport, and assemble event equipment, signage, and supplies up to 35 lbs. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Pay Range: $40,000 – $60,000 annually (commensurate with experience) Competitive benefits package including health, dental, retirement plan, and paid time off.
