Reporting to the Associate Chief of Medical Affairs within the Mental Health Service line the Psychiatrist works within a collaborative care setting to provide patient centered care to a diverse patient population including Yale students, faculty, staff and their families. Additional responsibilities include:Assess, define and document patients’ clinical problems, and provide appropriate diagnoses.Document care and close encounters within Yale Health expected timeframes.Maintains patient charts and reports.Plans and executes treatment in a timely manner. Communicate with patients in a timely manner.Provide direct clinical care, collaborative consultation and teaching as required. Provide psychopharmacology evaluations and prescribe medication as appropriate.Responsible for overseeing psychopharmacology treatment of their assigned caseload.Provide crisis intervention and participate in rotating on-call coverage.Liaison to the Yale University community.Participates in training as required.Available as clinical backup for other colleagues during planned and unplanned absences.Flexibility in adjusting appointment schedules to meet changing clinical demands.Works in a cooperative and supportive manner within a multi-disciplinary team.Regularly attend and participate in organizational and department meetings and committee assignments.Meet regularly with assigned manager and department leadership.Schedule: Full-time: 37.50 HRS; Monday- Friday ; evenings, weekends and holidays/recess may be required. Participates in on-call rotation.Required Skills and Abilities1. Ability to work as part of a team.2. Demonstrated clinical skills as attested by colleagues and supervisors.3. Ability to support staff with leadership, teaching and team building.4. Strong communication skills.5. Proficiency in the use of an electronic medical record(EMR)Preferred Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated experience in treatment of a wide range of patient population. Familiarity with college mental health services.Principal Responsibilities1. Defines and documents patients’ clinical problems and reaches proper diagnoses; plans and executes therapy in a timely manner; keeps records of care; provides consultation and teaching to residents. 2. Performs evaluations, crisis intervention, individual, group, family therapy and/or medication management as needed to meet the needs of client population and the clinic. 3. Utilizes a range of clinical interventions appropriate to the population while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction. 4. Participates in hospital coverage, including: rounds; weekday and weekend on-call rotations. 5. Acts as liaison to University Community and works directly with residential colleges and may work with Deans, masters and other staff on student issues. Required Education and Experience Graduation from an accredited medical school and accredited residency program. Demonstrated clinical skills.
