About the Facility The Texas NeuroRehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin on 67 wooded acres and has served the community for over 80 years. Responsibilities Coordinate patient care throughout the course of treatment. Maintain a communication system based on documentation and verbal exchange regarding treatment. Communicate with internal and external entities to facilitate acquisition of treatment authorization and resources. Contribute to discharge planning and assist with authorizations related to the discharge plan. Complete treatment plans within regulatory and licensing guidelines. Facilitate weekly utilization review meetings. Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of substance abuse and psychiatric patient services. Professional verbal and written skills needed for communicating patient status and treatment needs to payers, families, professionals, paraprofessional employees of the hospital, and members of the patient’s community. Able to maintain professional records and patient confidentiality and maintain professional relationships with staff and patients. Knowledge of special treatment procedures. Able to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation. Education Current LMSW license. Licensure / Certification Current Driver’s License or state‑issued ID. Established licenses are to be maintained. Experience Three years’ experience in a similar role requiring verbal and written communication; prioritizing and addressing multiple tasks; and working with a team approach. Physical/General Requirements Ability to sit or stand while interacting with patients, families, and staff; write or type for extended periods; travel between various hospital areas; use telephone for extended periods; deal with stressful situations and changing priorities; sustain physical activity eight hours a day; remain on feet eight hours per day; restrain patients by individual or team restraint per policy; lift, carry, and lower 50 pounds without assistance; push patients in wheel chairs up and down hills and pursue running patients; transfer patients to and from wheel chairs; confront dangerous and aggressive patients; de‑escalate crisis situations; convey patient behavior accurately in writing or verbally; write legibly and grammatically for patient charts; consistent attendance.
