The purpose of the Sr Solution Consultant is:

As a Senior Solution Consultant – Merchant, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how leading merchants design and optimize their payment and fraud strategies. This role sits at the intersection of payment orchestration, fraud & risk management, and payment intelligence, helping customers unlock measurable business outcomes such as improved authorization rates, reduced fraud losses, and enhanced customer experience.

You will act as a trusted advisor to enterprise merchants, translating complex payment, fraud, and data challenges into actionable strategies powered by ACI's solutions. Working closely with Sales, Product, and Partners, you will drive value-led engagement, focusing on outcomes, not features.

This position is ideal for a consultant who brings deep expertise in fraud, risk, or payment intelligence, combined with a strong interest or growing expertise in payment orchestration and the broader merchant payments ecosystem.

A typical day at ACI for a Sr Solution Consultant is:

1. Lead strategic customer engagements across the full sales lifecycle, with a focus on fraud, risk, and payment optimization strategies

2. Translate merchant challenges (e.g. fraud losses, false declines, conversion gaps) into data-driven value propositions and solution strategies

3. Position ACI's payment orchestration capabilities to enable smarter routing, decisioning, and performance optimization

4. Define and articulate business outcomes, including:

   • Fraud reduction and risk mitigation

   • Authorization uplift and revenue recovery

   • Improved customer experience and checkout performance

5. Conduct consultative discovery workshops, identifying key pain points across payments, fraud, and risk domains

6. Design end-to-end solution approaches combining payments, fraud detection, and data intelligence

7. Partner with Sales and Account teams to progress and win strategic deals

8. Build compelling executive narratives, proposals, and ROI models

9. Provide thought leadership on industry trends, including fraud evolution, regulatory impacts (e.g. PSD2/3), and payment innovation

10. Collaborate with Product and Product Marketing to shape roadmap direction and market positioning based on customer insights

Knowledge, Skills and Experience needed to succeed in this role:

Core Experience

• 5–10+ years in one or more of the following domains:

  • Fraud & risk management (e.g. fraud detection, decisioning, chargebacks)

  • Payment intelligence / optimisation (e.g. authorisation uplift, routing strategies)

  • Merchant payments (acquiring, gateways, orchestration, wallets)

• Proven experience in a consultative, customer-facing role (Solution Consulting, Pre-Sales, Advisory)

Domain Expertise

• Strong understanding of:

  • Fraud prevention strategies and trade-offs (approval vs risk vs customer friction)

  • Payment performance drivers (authorisation rates, routing, issuer behaviour)

  • Data-driven decisioning and optimisation techniques

• Familiarity with payment orchestration platforms is a strong plus

• Alternatively: strong fraud/risk expertise with a clear motivation to expand into payments and orchestration

Consulting & Commercial Skills

• Ability to translate technical capabilities into clear business value and outcomes

• Strong stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills

• Experience building ROI cases, value models, and business justifications

• Ability to challenge customer assumptions and lead strategic conversations

Preferred experience:

• Experience working with enterprise merchants in retail, eCommerce, or digital services

• Exposure to regulatory frameworks (PSD2, SCA, etc.)

• Data-driven mindset with ability to leverage analytics and insights to drive decisions

• Comfortable working in complex, multi-stakeholder sales environments

• Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams (Sales, Product, Marketing)
