Job Details Setting: Medical-Surgical Telemetry / Neuro / Stroke Employment Type: Travel RN Location: Chesapeake, VA | Coastal Virginia Start Date: 09/14/2026 Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:30) Schedule Options: 3x12s or 4x12s Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010 Orientation: 16 hours Patient Ratio: Typical 1:7 Schedule Expectations: Every other weekend, floating, and holidays required; travelers must work two of the three winter holidays Charting System: Epic Job Requirements 2 years of RN experience required Previous travel RN experience required Active Virginia or compact RN license in hand at time of submission Epic experience required Recent acute care experience caring for neurology and stroke patients Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications Must be comfortable with a 1:7 patient ratio in a busy acute care setting Must live at least 50 miles from the facility No prior license or background hits accepted Must be able to pass required EKG testing with a score of 80% or higher Fit testing requirements must be met; PAPR cannot be accommodated Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric Med/Surg Tele neuro/stroke patients Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms as needed Assess, plan, and implement individualized patient care in an acute care hospital setting Support patients with stroke, neurological, and medical-surgical needs Administer medications and perform common unit-based nursing interventions Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to promote safe, effective care Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns promptly Maintain accurate documentation in Epic throughout the shift Participate in floating assignments as required by the unit Apply now to join this rewarding Travel RN opportunity in Chesapeake, Virginia, and advance your nursing career in Coastal Virginia healthcare.
