Details MedSurg Neuro & Stroke unit within a hospital setting Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) with 3x12 or 4x12 options available Typical patient ratio of 1:7 Every other weekend rotation required Floating required as part of the assignment Holiday coverage required within the contract, including two of the three winter holidays Overtime paid after 48 hours for 4x12 schedules Requirements Active VA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Previous travel nursing experience required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (American Heart Association) Epic EMR proficiency required Previous experience caring for Neurology/Stroke patients required Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line management, and PICC line care Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote) Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE Experience with CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury care Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications Driver's license required for address verification prior to offer acceptance Additional Information Provide direct patient care within a MedSurg Neuro & Stroke unit EKG competency testing required prior to starting orientation, with a minimum passing score of 80% Three hours of billable orientation modules required prior to start Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this position Requested time off must be submitted in advance and will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis Facility cannot accommodate PAPR fit testing requirements Candidates with prior license or background history issues will not be considered First-time travelers are not eligible for this position American Traveler Job ID P-746097.
