Administrative Trainee

Advocate Healthcare of East Boston is seeking a motivated and career-driven Administrative Trainee to join our leadership team. This position is designed for an individual interested in developing a career in healthcare administration and gaining hands-on experience in the operations of a skilled nursing and long-term care facility.

About the Role

The Administrative Trainee will work closely with the facility Administrator and department leaders to gain practical experience across the day-to-day operations of the facility. The trainee will be exposed to multiple areas of healthcare administration, including clinical operations, human resources, admissions, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, financial operations, resident services, and facility management.

This position provides an opportunity to develop the leadership, operational, and regulatory knowledge necessary for advancement within long-term care and healthcare administration.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Administrator and department leaders to learn all aspects of skilled nursing facility operations.

• Assist with administrative operations, reports, documentation, recordkeeping, and special projects.

• Participate in departmental meetings, leadership meetings, and interdisciplinary processes.

• Gain exposure to admissions, census management, staffing, human resources, finance, environmental services, dietary services, rehabilitation, social services, and nursing operations.

• Assist with quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.

• Learn federal and Massachusetts requirements applicable to skilled nursing and long-term care facilities.

• Participate in survey readiness, compliance monitoring, audits, and corrective action activities.

• Assist with resident and family communication and customer service initiatives.

• Maintain accurate records while protecting confidential information and complying with HIPAA requirements.

• Develop leadership, communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.

• Collaborate with clinical and nonclinical departments to support efficient facility operations.

• Complete additional administrative and operational assignments as directed by the Administrator.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.

• Strong interest in healthcare administration, long-term care, or senior healthcare services.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work effectively with residents, families, employees, healthcare professionals, and organizational leadership.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other applicable regulatory requirements.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications.

• Previous healthcare or long-term care experience is preferred but not required.

• Must demonstrate professionalism, initiative, dependability, and a willingness to learn.
