THE DEPARTMENT:

This role would serve within the Division of Student Affairs, which supports leadership and administrative support to over twenty-five(25) units with over 300 career positions, and an additional 700students and 50 limited staff while serving an increasingly diversestudent population of approximately 30,000 students at CPP. Thisrole will work with the Director of Student Conduct & Integrityto address and adjudicate alleged violations of the Student ConductCode and will lead all education and outreach initiatives from theOffice of Student Conduct & Integrity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Conduct Adjudication & Case Management Adjudicates alleged violations of the Student Conduct Code inaccordance with CSU and CPP policies and procedures with minimalsupervision using an educational and transformativephilosophy. Independently manages caseload of alleged violations frominception through completion, ensuring compliance with timelines,due process, and policies. Investigates alleged violations by students and/or studentorganizations, including taking the lead on investigations, asappropriate. Assigns, assesses, and monitors sanctions within delegatedauthority. Suspension and expulsion sanctions are not independentlyassigned by this position and require coordination with andco-signature by the Director. Drafts, reviews, and sends relevant correspondence for assignedcases. Maintains highly confidential student conduct files andprocedures, including case notes following current state andfederal guidelines, using Maxient (student conduct database). Ensures student conduct records are properly maintained andorganized following CSU policy. Responsible for explaining student conduct procedures tostudents, staff, faculty, and parents/guardians, asappropriate. Reviews reports of conflict-based harms, includinginterpersonal and inter-group dynamics, student conduct matters,and academic integrity. Meets with parties, primarily students and studentorganizations, that experience and cause harm to review conflictmanagement options for a particular case and advise parties onthose options. Makes appropriate referrals to campus resources/partners basedon the outcome of student meetings and investigations. Participates in the assessment and evaluation of the overallbusiness operations of Student Conduct & Integrity as well asthe student conduct process. Gathers information to address crisis situations and helps withresponse and coordination as appropriate. Develops and assists with conflict resolution, mediation,restorative justice, and the de-escalation of disputes. Develops and maintains positive working relationships withfaculty, staff, and administration at the university in order tobetter serve students. Education & Outreach Creates, develops, and implements presentations, workshops,trainings, and sanctions to support the prevention and outreachefforts of Student Conduct and Integrity. Facilitates programs that train, raise awareness, and provideother services for the campus community regarding conflictmanagement/resolution, community expectations, mediation,restorative/transformative justice, de-escalation of disputes, andrepair harm. Partners with key campus partners related to conflict-basedharms, including, but not limited to, faculty, staff, students,Athletics, Bronco Leadership Center, University Housing, UniversityVillage, The Current, Office of Equity and Compliance, UniversityPolice Department, etc. Collaborates on the development and delivery of Hearing Officertraining. Develops and maintains positive working relationships withfaculty, staff, and administration at the university to best servestudents. Assists the Office of Student Conduct and Integrity witheducating students, faculty, staff, and community members about CSUand CPP policies and procedures. Provides advice and guidance to students, staff, faculty, andparents/guardians regarding student conduct process and procedureswhile following applicable state and federal laws andregulations. Provides consultation and support to faculty regarding academicdishonesty and non-academic misconduct concerns. Conducts assessments of the effectiveness ofpresentations/workshops, resources, and trainings and makesappropriate recommendations. Support for Student Conduct & Integrity Operations Assists with the overall management and operations of StudentConduct and Integrity Collaborates with the Director on the design and delivery ofwork assignments for Student Assistants; delegates tasks asnecessary to complete projects and meet deadlines. Participates in Student Assistant recruitment, onboarding, andongoing training. Supports the Director with Student Assistant time-keeping;provides feedback as appropriate. Provides back-up support, as/when needed, to other clusterswithin the Division of Student Affairs. Represents and serves on selected department, division, anduniversity committees. Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree - Equivalent to graduation from a four-yearcollege or university in a related field plus upper division orgraduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing andconflict resolution where such are job related. and Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typicallydemonstrated through the equivalent to four years of progressivelyresponsible professional student services work experience whichincludes experience in advising students individually and ingroups, and in analysis and resolution of complex student servicesproblems. A master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, SocialWork or a job‑related field may be substituted for one year ofprofessional experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriateinternship or clinical training in counseling, guidance or ajob‑related field may be substituted for two years of the requiredprofessional experience for positions with a major responsibilityfor professional, personal or career counseling. Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures and practices ofthe program area to which assigned or the ability to quicklyacquire such knowledge. General knowledge of the policies,practices and activities of Student Services programs outside theprogram to which immediately assigned; general knowledge of theprinciples, problems and methods of public administration,including organizational, personnel and fiscal management; generalknowledge of advanced statistical and research methods. Ability to carry out very complex assignments without detailedinstructions; advise students individually or in groups on variedand complex matters; determine the appropriate course of action andproper techniques to utilize while engaged with individuals andgroups in personal interactions of a sensitive nature; reasonlogically and analyze and solve organizational and operatingproblems of one or several program areas; plan, coordinate andinitiate actions necessary to implement administrative or groupdecisions or recommendations; analyze and define complexorganizational, policy or procedural problems, collect and evaluatedata, draw valid conclusions and project consequences of variousalternative courses of action; understand the roles andresponsibilities of others and to gauge relationships accordinglyby taking into account the variety of the interrelationships,motivations and goals of the members of the organization served;and establish and maintain effective, cooperative and harmoniousworking relationships in circumstances which involve the denial ofrequests or the necessity to persuade others to accept a differentpoint of view.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in higher education, student affairs,counseling, social work, or a related field. Experience working with student conduct, disciplinaryprocesses, case management, or related student servicesfunctions. Demonstrated ability to manage complex and sensitive studentsituations using sound judgment and appropriate discretion. Knowledge of advising, counseling, conflict resolution, andstudent development practices in an educational setting. Experience developing and maintaining accurate and confidentialcase management records. Strong written and verbal communication skills, includingexperience presenting to groups such as classrooms, workshops, orlarge audiences. Knowledge of FERPA, privacy requirements, and other applicablelaws, policies, and procedures related to student records andconduct. Ability to work effectively both independently andcollaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and abilityto manage multiple priorities. Experience assessing programs, services, presentations, orlearning outcomes and using findings to supportrecommendations. Knowledge of university structures, policies, procedures, andstudent services operations. CSU Classification Salary Range This position is part of the APC bargaining unit 4. The CSUClassification Standards for this position are located on CSU Classification Standards website. The CSU Salary Schedule islocated on the CSU Salary Schedule website. The classification salary rangefor this position according to the respective skill level is:minimum $6,320 and maximum $9,014 per month.
