Our organization is looking for a faculty psychologist to become a part of the pioneering interdisciplinary Headache Center team within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. This role presents a remarkable chance to influence the future of headache treatment, research, and education at one of the leading academic institutions in the United States. Candidates with expertise in health psychology, pain psychology, or specialized headache treatments are encouraged to apply. The selected individual will perform biopsychosocial evaluations, create customized treatment strategies, and deliver a comprehensive array of evidence-based therapeutic interventions aimed at assisting patients in managing pain and stress, ultimately enhancing their quality of life.
The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in the following areas:
Core principles and methodologies of health psychology and pain psychology.
Thorough biopsychosocial evaluations for headaches and associated psychological conditions.
Evidence-based therapeutic techniques (such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness practices) to decrease headache occurrences, alleviate pain and its effects, enhance functionality, and improve overall quality of life.
Experience with biofeedback and/or neurofeedback therapies for headache management.
Proficiency in evidence-based treatments for psychological disorders that may accompany headaches (including depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, personality disorders, and bipolar disorder).
Ability to work collaboratively within an interprofessional team.
This position not only provides a competitive salary but also a comprehensive benefits package and numerous avenues for professional advancement. Join us in making a significant impact on the lives of patients dealing with headache disorders and in shaping the future of headache care. We invite you to apply and become a valued member of our team!
Additional Information
Applicants should have a strong foundation in clinical health psychology and integrated care for medically compromised populations. A doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program, completion of an APA-accredited internship, and at least one year of supervised postdoctoral training are required.
