Grade School Aftercare Aide

Opening Statement This is a part‑time, non‑exempt, hourly position. The San Francisco Waldorf Grade School Afterschool Program is looking for a part‑time Aftercare Aide to begin late August2026. Hours range from 11:30pm–5:30pm, Monday through Friday. Summary The Aftercare Aide is an essential role for Kindergarten through 6th Grade children at the school, creating a daily and weekly rhythm that gives them the opportunity to partake in play, rest, snack, and outdoor activities. The Aftercare Director will provide guidance and oversight for the Aide’s work with the children in the classroom and outdoor space. Responsibilities Essential Job Duties: Set up the Kindergarten rooms for rest time, creating a warm and welcoming environment for the children Work alongside the Kindergarten Assistant, fellow Aftercare Staff or independently during rest and snack time Hold a quiet late afternoon snack time Help prepare one afternoon snack for the children Supervise Kindergarten children during play time Lead and engage in activities while supervising the Grades children such as drawing, crafting, sports and outdoor games Clean‑up of the classrooms, including wiping down surfaces, vacuuming, and emptying compost, etc. Work during late winter and spring camps—one week each Clean‑up the play yard, together with the children Qualifications Desired Experience: 1‑2 years experience working with children indoors, outdoors or in a classroom setting is required Bachelors in Education preferred Waldorf Teacher Trained (or in process) preferred Applicants must be familiar with and interested in Waldorf education Good communication skills with colleagues Must have an interest in engaging children in crafts, drawing, circus related activities games, and other activities, both indoors and outdoors Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively on a team with guidance from Kindergarten Faculty, Kindergarten Aftercare Coordinator and After School Program Director CPR/First Aid certified Physical Requirements And Work Environment Be able to occasionally lift 30 lbs. Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including heat and cold Regularly sitting or standing 4‑8 hours Compensation and Benefits $29.00 per hour. This is a part‑time, non‑exempt, hourly position. Benefits include those offered by the City of San Francisco, such as the San Francisco Sick Paid Sick Leave and San Francisco Health Care Ordinance. School ends on June3,2027. This position does not continue during the summer break. Opportunities to work during summer camps may be available. School breaks and holidays are unpaid.
